Way to go Sally, I think: Sidewalks and mass transit are the future technologies that will help cure an unhealthy planet which is as I just hate to repeat myself all the time, EQUAL to an unhealthy mankind. The funny thing is that we use to have neighborhood markets until the automobile took us away to the supermarkets of today. There was a healthier time in America, I remember, and I think we should go back there. Can going backward be called progress? I think if it makes us and the Earth healthier, it's the only direction to go. Today, instead of using a sidewalk people get in their oil burning carbon dioxide producing planet killing cars to drive to a health club to run on a tread mill, I find that messed-up, and unhealthy at best. Human value in America is defined in many cases by the price of their car, WOW! And we wonder whats wrong??? = MJA The truth of everything is less than one inch, it is only equal and the lion is one. One is free when the door is opened, education has the key. =

Hi MJA and Sally; I've just posted some good news regarding our shrinking ozone layer at the pub site. here it is: NASA: Ozone Hole Returns to Average Size The Associated Press - Oct 19, 2007 WASHINGTON (AP) — The Antarctic ozone hole is back to an average size, shrinking about 16 percent from last year's record high, NASA said Friday. ... I guess they say its because of the milder weather, seems like the Earth likes to maintain equilibrium. I agree with you about the cars MJA, we can all thank GM and it's lobby group, for the road expansion and therefore in the proliferation of autos. I live in downtown Birmingham Michigan a beautiful suburb of Detroit. And I walk everywhere. The problem thanks to GM is that the cities grew horizontally and not vertically, thus making cars necessary. Two of my favorite cities are New York and San Francisco, vertical cities. Detroit and L.A. and others are horrible cities to travel one end to another, thus increasing road rage and craziness. Well at least there is a little good news for you MJA. Best, Pat

Modifying the past isn't bad. Instead of concrete sidewalks, rubber sidewalks. I've heard of that being implemented somewhere. My older daughter played on a recycled rubber playground when she was little, it was my favorite place to take her because she didn't get hurt when she fell, it had a spongy feel. I don't think rubber can freeze either. I don't know if it was made from tires or plastic.

| Hi Sally; I like your rubber sideswalk idea. When it gets hot does the playground get sticky? Best to all, Pat | |

Best to all, Pat | Hi Pat, I like the idea too but it wasn't mine as it's already happening on sidewalks and playgrounds. I never noticed it being sticky. http://www.rubbersidewalks.com/

It may cause some problems with wheel chairs and old people like me. Great idea for playgrounds though. Best to you, Pat

It's a shock absorber, it will be great for people that have knee problems. Plus old people fall all the time, the impact wouldn't be so bad on rubber. Plus, if need be, wheelchairs can be modified too. But I don't see how you see a problem with them, do you think the surface wouldn't be as smooth? It's perfectly flat, I think it would be great for roads too, those sound barrier walls wouldn't be needed along highways.

Actually Sally I'm still waiting for those moving sidewalks and flying cars the futurist talked about in the 1950's. Best, Pat
