Re: It's All About The Money

Thanks for the link eriqinmos. I wonder how Gresham would have felt about the move toward the 'cashless society'?

In three months, I have 'spent' exactly $50.00 in cash.

All else has been electronic transaction as my wages are direct deposited and all but very minor purchases are done by debit or credit card. Just 5 years ago, I did all my transactions by cash or cheque.

Astounding how the change just crept in as a matter of convenience, as the banking hours became less accessible with the banks opening later than when I got off work in the morning.

Of late, I have had reason to make some banking appointments and at least one of the banks has vastly improved it's customer service and is returning to 'face-to-face' accessibility and is now open, once again, after years of be closed, on Saturdays.

Yes, some changes are already underway, and some of them, are for the better.

It must be bizarre, to have all-plastic money..

    the change just crept in

But ya, the cash thing...I recently used some coins for the library...cuzz I printed out that entire article on the 214mpg motorcycle from that Belgian guy.. in color...so that was like 25cents per page...3$ in all..haha, but I'm like...this is one of the best articles I have ever seen!! haha

    'cashless society'?
"the less you invest in your non-tangible services, the less sales you will get".

in literal context the actual Gersham saw as "bad money"
in Gresham's day, bad money included any coin that had been debased.

==all modern money is fiat money, not commodity money..so all modern money is bad money

Yes, the whole fiat currency thing just keeps getting weirder, in my opinion.

Although it has been suggested that the desire might be for a 'cashless society' I expect we are a ways from such yet, as we would have to overcome much of the illiteracy in society before such would be feasible, to my way of thinking.

I posted a similar link on the new Canadian currency pending, similar to the currency in use presently in Australia. This one gives a few more details. Although one of the arguments given is that this currency shall be more durable and hence more enviro-friendly, the bottom line, literally, is that it shall also, then, be cheaper to produce.

Ever does it come back to the bottom line, lol.....

    It's all about the money!

Not my philosophy, just my observation.

As always, thanks for your input, eriqinmos.

    Great!

Now have it duplicated and send me a certified true copy, lol.....

Ever can I use an epiphany!

You have a delightfully unique way of expressing yourself, eriqinmos. Your mind is quick and leaps from thought to thought, like a cat on a hot in roof, as the saying goes.

You keep me on my toes, as I never quite know from which way your thoughts shall pounce next.

    Excellent!

Re: It's All About The Money

OMG! Have people forgotten how to put water in a pot?

Advertised as Low Fat, Low Sodium, No Artificial Ingredients.

Organic Veggie Broth, made in USA - $5.39 for a tetra pack of 1 Liter in size.

Ingredients: Water, Organic Onions, Organic Carrots, Organic Celery, Organic Tomato Paste, Spices, Organic Canola Oil, Organic Garlic and Sea Salt.

Contains 20 calories per 250 ml portion. (80 calories in the whole Liter).

I likely burned that many calories in duplicating the ingredient list twice, once at the store, and now for this post.

You can't believe that I would pay such a price for something that a supervised child could do while attending her play or homework simultaneously?

This marketing business is remarkable, for the clever ones who design the product, and more so for those who buy them....

As I'm fond of cliches...time is money. There is a stark contrast between water and vegetable broth. I'm thinking a good broth can take from 1/2 to 1 hour to cook. Even at minimum wage it costs less to buy it pre-made.

That would be true if one were only making one liter, but as stock pots are specifically of a size to make more, I could argue the point.

Also, as I pointed out, it takes minutes to prepare the ingredients, and time does the rest for you, as you are free to do otherwise with your time while the fragrant brew works it's magic.

The majority of persons must buy into your way of thinking, however, as we sell a fair amount of it.

That being said, the majority of persons are also not financially solvent because of the cumulative effect of how they spend their money and their time.

Ever we must choose between convenience, our own energy resources, and also the energy we must apply to first obtain the means by which to purchase the convenience. Most people soon tire of doing the math and trust the corporate world to do it for them.

Unless you own shares in the corporation, whose interest do you think they have in mind? Except for promotional events, what products do they purchase? It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in some of these power broker's kitchens, lol....

    Thanks for the feedback.

Lol, you don't know me very well, Racey.

I do not eat out very often, but when I do, I select restaurants with good food and service, ( a great Chinese place 7 miles from here being one, a long established hotel dining room as a second, and a new and high scale chain for those very special events), and I tip WELL. (30% if it's on the mark....)

Then when I do return, they continue to treat me well.

Poor food, poor service, you get industry standard minimum of 10%. When I tip 10%, I never come back.....

You see, I worked as both a dining room waitress, and at a coffee-shop when I was younger, and I know all about the jobs and the jerks one sometimes draws for customers. Some people do not deserve any respect, based on how they demean others. May they walk in grace, as long as they walk out of this place, lol.....
