    Re: East Meets West Logic...

Among the species, ours alone, seems capable of the conceptualization of the maths and sciences, and the utilization of logic.

Likewise, in our capacity for the expression of emotion in extraordinary displays of art, music, creativity in human endeavor, and individual and collective demonstration of altruism.

Why, then, can we not harness these two work engines simultaneously?

Has this diversity of thought evolved to increase our odds of survival, in that one strategy shall prove more beneficial than the other?

Or rather, that in various recombinations of the objective and subjective ways of thinking, there is greater diversity yet, and by this means, of measuring and challenging each school of thought to its best effort, there may arise the better combined solution?

    Re: East Meets West Logic...

A couple of sentences only - not too much to expect people to read.

The single most important idea which all people must grasp.

Human beings are born into the capacity for corrupt behaviour; parents are required to understand this idea to ensure that their children pass through their education into a better place; a better place, as the only place where their children can find happiness.

Teach a child to pursue money, power ~etc~ and the parent is twisting their childrens' mind so out of shape, that the parent is ensuring that their children will never be happy
... ... so much re-programming required by society, that the individual will doubtless never make it through to the other side.

Money (provably) cannot buy the individual anything of real worth.

Good point - though there's a need for a correction in society before we're able to pursue this line of thought.

Simply pointing at all of the issues we're used to discussing here... ... ...

    for~instance
parity of wage, access to physiological necessities, environmentally sustainable behaviour ... ....

... ... our problem is that we can't run the old (current) and developing (exactly as you've described above) mechanisms simultaneously.

Diversity is a good thing -
the only occasion though when we cannot entertain diversity
    - is when we're facing a non-compatible old and new.

The old political, economic and legal system aren't compatible with the less asphyxiating infrastructure which is demanded by the new.

Thomas Paine had it nailed some quite considerable time ago (so I've just discovered)

    - France and America are two of the world's most powerful nations
    - it'll be interesting to see whether they're able to throw off their controlling paradigm of original sin for just a few moments, to investigate the philosophy of just one individual (just on wikipedia is enough)

    - one individual who appears to have almost single-handedly shaped their nations into the potential (currently unrealised) for equality, liberty, fraternity
    - for a Land of the Free
    - (currently unrealised)

    - (currently unrealised)
    maybe not so though, shortly.

There is no medium of exchange that cannot be put to proper or wrong use.

History tells of poisoned food and water, contaminated blankets, in the eternal nature of our species, in securing advantage for our own.

It is our nature we must look to, before the tools with which we implement our will.

Money makes the children starve and then takes the credit for stopping the kids from starving.

Doesn't much care to admit to the first part though.

    Re: East Meets West Logic...

Hi Lorrina, and great to see you're still hanging in there with us all. And, why can't we harness these two work engines simultaneously? And that is the greatest question on Earth. I know I'm certainly willing to run both engines at once, but there's a mountain of language and meanings to climb, it seems, before both sides can see each other saying the same things. To me, it's a simple matter of priorities of what exactly will feed the most starving people on the planet, and I'd just like to get the better half of all our nature's to realize, emotions with not feed the starving masses, only the improvement of our laws and distribution systems will. So, I slog on__to reach those few magic words, that will cross the great gulf of left and right hemisphere debates__which are really totally un-necessary to me__yet, still seem to be necessary to others...

    Any suggestions for unifications...?

Maybe you already answered it__"...measuring and challenging each school of thought to its best effort, there may arise the better combined solution? "
