The result is an article published recently in the research journal Physical Review Letters. It describes the transition from quantum to classical world as a "decoherence" process that involves a kind of evolutionary progression somewhat analogous to Charles Darwin's concept of natural selection.

The authors built on two theories called decoherence and quantum Darwinism, both proposed by Los Alamos National Laboratory researcher Wojciech Zurek.

Hi Lorrina, there's two schools of science at war in this particular area. One of evolution and natural selection__The other of evolution and no natural selection. I follow the latter, as I posted on Greg's thread, post # 483. In the same post is this important LINK...With many of the picture explanations. This war's been waged since the `40's, when Barbara McClintock, a renown Nobel winning American Scientist first published her findings on genetic mechanics. James A. Shapiro is following in McClintock's path, and is the leading living researcher within quantum genetics, or epigenetics. The bent of the research shows natural selection to be wrong, while evolution is right. Scientists are lining up on both sides of the debate, all over the world, as they have been for the last five plus years... Shapiro has written many excellent articles defending the anti-natural selection scientist's evidence. This is going to be the real shocker to the Darwinian natural selection biologists, as they have the scientific facts__as clear as a bell.

I first was made aware of this area of epigenetic research by one of the scientists in my philosophy group, back about five years ago. He was doing deep research into epigenetics. As far back as the `70's, a co-worker of mine told me about his son's research in the early stages of this new field, all based in McClintock's initial work... The men ignored her until a man from France, in the `60's and `70's showed she was correct... Since, the world has been slowly shifting away from natural selection to epigenetics, and related bio-physics research...

One must realize, when QM can't explain something, many of them resort to science-fiction__as much of the above article infers... Decoherence has been around for years, and really shows nothing, clearly__i.e., smoke and mirrors...

The real research is quantum biology and epigenetics, but not the hype of epigenetics... Ya gotta start with the real scientists, like McClintock and Shapiro and follow the links, of others, to their work__It's a massive inventory of real quantum biological research...

This link to a unique mapping of nuclear activity around the globe from 1945-1998. This visualization was rather an eye-opener for me in terms of the numbers and locations of the testings of these nuclear devices.

Pretty amazing, wasn't it Lorrina...? 2053 and still counting, nuclear explosions around the world, and were still here. Don't suppose that may have a bit to do with some of the world's newest complex health problems, do ya...? I knew there were a lot of these blasts and tests, but had no idea it amounted to this many...

    Thanks a $$$trillion,

Are any of the followers familiar with Drupal?

I opened a link while researching a topic, and the only option on the page was Drupal, to install and configure, so of course, I deeked left and began to investigate this new object of interest.

Apparently, it is an open sourced software, originated as below. Just wondered if any of our resident Techies could tell me if it is worth pursuing or if there are better ways to spend my time, lol....

Drupal was originally written by Dries Buytaert, who still heads the Drupal project. Buytaert transliterated the Dutch word 'druppel,' which means 'droplet' to create the name 'Drupal,' in order to make an indirect reference to the community aspects of the project through the Dutch word 'dorp,' meaning 'village.' He opened the source code for community work in 2001.

    Re: East Meets West Logic...

A Story of Thought__The Black, Tan and ‘White Borg…’

Of the many conversations, postings and ideas entering my head of recent, it’s become apparent to me, there may be an easier way of understanding our over-complexities’ world. I’ve been having many conversations with many of my friends and contacts, over the last few months, and one idea seems to keep springing forth__How can a positive conversation even begin to take place in this world, when so many see so much negativity…? Let me see if I can partially resolve some of these communication and understanding problems…

We seem to have two major schools of thought that come between all participants__that being scientific determinism and free-will and human values__whether between scientists and scientists, or between scientists and humanists. Many humanists are not aware that the same ‘battle royale’ between scientists and humanists, is taking place between scientists of differing schools of science itself, just the same as it’s taking place between different schools of humanists, spiritualists, and other belief systems’ ideas that may be taking positions against science, as they perceive science to be taking positions against them__and all being confounded, conflated and confused between the fundamentals of determinism, free-will and responsibility, or real human values…

Let’s look at the largest picture first__that of the total cultural values systems and actions of global markets inter-actions. Every nation wants to be King, in a world that requires inter-co-operation for their very survival, because no nation today has the resources to survive, without depending on many external nations for these very survival necessities, whether oil, minerals, metals, food or whatever. Yet, all nations have inertial law systems and actions that seem to be working against the natural laws of just such survival necessities. This is just a true fact of life for all nations__none can escape these facts, but what is to save us from ourselves…?

If we look at all the mechanical deterministic law systems, facts and human values systems as one entire massive functioning information system__what’s to be learned…? How can we re-integrate universal values into a system, with such diversity of desires, of so many varied communities of peoples…? Now so far, my debates with friends and associates have centered on the fact the ‘far right’ has views that are entirely counter to the desires of the ‘far left’__and just about everyone I’ve spoken to says this battle is un-resolvable__but, I’ve always pointed out the fact__they haven’t considered the evolution of information processing and learning that’s taking place among all communities of actors involved__by the first in world history’s existence of the WWW… All the ‘far right’ or ‘Black Borg’ are fighting with all the ‘far left’ or ‘Tan Borg’__here referred to as ‘Borg’ due to the fact, none of these same people I’ve talked to see any possibility of the WWW serving as a vehicle to advance the gridlock between the ‘Black and Tan Borg’. I refer to this analogy, as much of the information technologies today, are centered on understanding the modern era’s creation of so many ‘Cyborgs’ showing up on the Internet. This is happening in every field of study, from the most ancient of spirit and religions to the most sophisticated of information systems and quantum mechanics, etc. By ‘Cyborg’ I mean self-educated men and women in all fields, that are far surpassing the intelligence and wisdom of these same and similar ideas of the past…

It matters not where one looks, if one studies this phenomena thoroughly enough, one will quickly realize the world is being slowly eclipsed, at present, by these new highly educated minds, that a physicist friend of mine nick-named the ‘White Borg’__as I was explaining to him just how many of the super-intelligent ‘Cyborgs’ were actually showing up on the web. It’s not only happening at these individual levels, but at the academic levels, as well. For the last three or so centuries, the mental world has been split by the Cartesian dualism of mind and body__but it’s not only these new individual ‘Cyborgs’ but many fields of science and the humanities which are seeing this age-old myth of mind-body dualism, and re-interpreting it into ‘embodied mind’, and even at the quantum level, what used to be looked at as particle wave dualism, is now seen by the brightest as ‘embodied particle waves‘__or in other words__a new universal system of thought centered on the new interpretations being a ratio-logical system, of one blending into the other, and always needing the two in one reality__thus offering the new ‘Triadic Reality’, I’ve written so much about. Interpreted as written above about the ‘far right’ and ‘far left’, these are no longer valid positions to base knowledge and beliefs in or on__as they truly be nothing but worn out dogmas…

It wasn’t I who came up with this new term of the ‘White Borg’, but my friend in seeing through the metaphors and diagrams of realities, I was relaying to him. I was arguing for the high possibility of these new minds, being produced by the evolution of www processing and new understanding inter-relationships, that would over-come the gridlock of the present ‘right/left’ stalemate, so the real world could once again move forward. Of course, this dialogue between he and I was longer than I will relay in this short piece, but it boiled down to his insistence on the world being far too deterministic and in such a bad state of negative inertia__Nothing could be changed__until he finally saw through what I was trying to relay, about what was really happening on a total global mentalities’ level… I told him that we’ve never had such a total instantaneous possibility of spreading real knowledge and wisdom, like this single period in history__Never…!!! And the facts are that this information spread is not one of concentrating power, even though the mass confusion and conflation of the present interpretation of most minds viewing the world and web may be true on one level__There’s a new level developing directly within this mass confusion, of some of the most integrated clear-headedness, I’ve ever seen…

On the greater fringes of this movement, scientists, determinists, free-will advocates, spiritualists, religious leaders, philosophers, biologists, evolutionists, etc., etc., etc., on and on__are coming together under the new banners of “No Truth Without Real Universal Values, Has Any True and Ultimate Meaning…” “All metaphors are tautologies, but metaphors and tautologies, with values, ‘only’, have meaning…” “Science Is A Pure Tautology, Without Human Values…”, and “Value Validity__What Good Are Science and Determinism, Unless They Serve Human Values…???”

With what is mentioned in the above, one should really start investigating, at the least, the many videos about the advancement of the ‘science of logic and mind’, the ‘philosophies of science and mind’, ‘the science of values’, aesthetics, esthetics, ethics and axiology__and possibly many of the other words you may want to add in here. There are thousands of live TV/You-Tube/Ted and other recordings of these newest ideas available through Google and Bing, etc., videos… I’d suggest John Searle as a place to start… http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/john-searle-on-ludwig-wittgenstein-section-1/c9a0c75cba1f54d375dac9a0c75cba1f54d375da-166316409680?q=John%20Searle&FROM=LKVR5&GT1=LKVR5& FORM=LKVR3 There’s five of these videos, summing to about an hour… It’s really about what science doesn’t know, and how to ground the basis for talking about universal values, for the first time in centuries, where science and beliefs are truly and honestly concerned…

Btw, when my physicist friend and I were finished talking, he thanked me honestly, about restoring a considerable new sense of hope for the world, in his thinking…

Imho, the ‘White Cy-Borgs’, who are actually the many new thinkers the www is producing, are exhibiting a new intelligence and wisdom of a new ‘Dispersed Power’ of ideas, that will be the ‘Redemptive Universal Values’ Truth’ the world will need, to create the fulfillment of ‘The Positive Middle-Way Truth and Wisdom’ the world so terribly needs…

    Re: East Meets West Logic...

Perhaps we contribute to the seeming complexity of a situation by over-analysis of each school of thought in isolation from each other.

The fact that 'it all hangs together' would lead me to hypothesize that there is more in common than disparate between these differing mental disciplines, and that our approach of examining may need to be revisited.

As a simple physical example, I would observe that whether one is pursuing athletic endeavor, improving one's marksmanship, or engaging in meditation, it all comes down to 'breathing'.

After all, what is 'life' except about 'breathing', and all that it allows us to experience?

I agree that the WWW has a huge potential to allow people of uncommon thought to reach out and form connections. This is excellent, as many of the most brilliant people are reclusive, by choice, and may also be of somewhat less affluent station, as wealth has never been as important as the pursuit of their thoughts, and the experiences of their choice.

Many might consider some of them to be 'fringe' personalities, as they are not easily influenced by 'group think' and societal conditioning. They are generally unobtrusive, and not easily convinced to join anything, yet they are also the ones who will step up to the plate, unasked, when they perceive a need for their skills.

The WWW may well be the means by which these people come forth, as you suggest.

Must go for now. The world is coming to my door today......lol.......

    Knowledge makes everything simpler.

Simplicity and complexity need each other.

Some things can never be made simple.

Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful.
