Well.......I don't know about the next 5 minutes, yet surely even in the last 5 years I have seen the evidence that major change is coming on all fronts.

While this is indeed something to celebrate, it is also something to mourn, for not all shall emerge unscathed, or even make it through the period of dramatic transition, which, I suspect, shall take many forms.

Yes, a New Day shall surely dawn, though few, if any, may contemplate it's visage with any accuracy.

We make projections from known platforms and paradigms.

What if this transition comes in a form that we have no paradigm for?

That is an exact example of a situation that was outside of the North American paradigm, at the time, although the response was felt even here in the Yukon, as a Korean Aircraft was escorted in to land at the Whitehorse Airport.

Schools and government buildings were evacuated, and many people were leaving town as well, with no one being allowed in.

My mother, who was 65 at the time, had not had the news on and was merrily on her way to a dental appointment, and found it odd that most shops had closed up. She does not carry a cell, so I could not phone her, but I was not too concerned, as she is very capable, and would make the decision she felt most comfortable with.

I recall that it was a Tuesday, as later that night, we met in town at KFC, it being Tooney Tuesday, and the restaurant being one of but a few restaurants that had gotten regrouped and reopened on that tragic day.

Also, all of those innocent people on the diverted airline needed to be fed and cared for, and our town people pitched in and cared for them, although they were not allowed off the plane.

And I think of the terror of that poor pilot, his English very limited, just doing his job, to be suddenly aware that he would be shot out of the sky if any of his actions were misinterpreted.

Our airport is barely large enough to accomodate the size of the craft he was flying and he had never flown in this region, having been diverted away from all major centers. He had to circle once or twice to get proper position, and all of our EMO resources were deployed in the event of anything untoward happening upon landing.

Yes, I rather expect we are going to have to write the script as we go along.
