A Link to Fyodor Dostoevsky 's The Grand Inquisitor(Christ and the Inquisitor...) that so influenced Ellis Sandoz...
And here's the link to the entire manuscript: Link...rrr
P.s.
Dostoevsky's notebooks show that he was inspired to use the figure of the Grand Inquisitor after he encountered it in a play by Friedrich Schiller, Don Carlos (1785-1787). (Schiller as relates to Peirce's early education...)
Funny, how I always seem to run into links to Avicenna and Pierce...? My daughter gave me the link to Sandoz__I didn't even know it was related to Ibn's and Peirce's studies... The best always seem to go to the same deepest thinkers...

represents Dostoevsky's personal battle (which occurs within all of us with education) between the animal (mindset of child) and properly human (mature mindset) hierarchies of (in effect) monarchy (the lion king) versus equality (anarchy).
Children like to compete -
- it helps them to become better.
In time (though) and with an understanding of the world around

The Grand Inquisitor did what he thought was best -
a little more knowledge and he'd change
(though)
Christ doesn't get to speak -
implying that the Grand Inquisitor is required to maintain the same stance from beginning to end of the novel.
Christ offers a kiss as he is dismissed
- because there's nothing more that he can do (at least without speaking).

If Dostoevsky were to write the story again today -
- the ending would have been different.
Christ would have spoken; the overall intelligence level (because of the ease of communication of information) would have lead to Dostoevsky having a little more faith in his fellow man.
Kinda' scary to take responsibility.

Question
Does this idea suggest that because of the underlying continuity in the manifold that we're being pulled to resonate with a species (with a mind) frequency in some potential far distant Universe ?
or
Are we simply the next stage on in a geometric progression which is just as inevitable as the pathway from underlying into physics and then the chemical periodic table?

Best to study Peirce from his original material: http://books.google.com/books?id=xq8...Peirce&f=false
as just about everyone has mis-interpreted him...rrr
And the ternary logic, or triadic as it was called in his day, is the logic that included the Habitus, or The Civic Consciousness, and this is what he was working on when he died. The best material exists in his Gamma Graphs, which Zeeman and Sosa have done an excellent job on interpreting and extending__It's also the area I work in... http://www.springerlink.com/content/w827t588386n7g40/

Religion is the largest part of 'Habitus' Peirce was always stating. Some nations/countries are as high as 95%+ religious__How could anyone possibly do a correct Social Science, without recognizing these facts...? This is the Universal Social Consciousness affecting all of us, and not in a bad way, as greater religion civilizes the social fabric, and without its values, where does one ground moral values, except in the evil side of atheism, which often forces many academics into their false ideologies__The False Method Problem Sandoz is referring to...

I only mentioned Dosty's 'Grand Inquisitor' as it linked Peirce and Ibn with Sandoz through Schiller, though I do like his ideas, especially 'Underground Letters'. He influenced many people.
Books like the 'Inquisitor' and Neitzsche's 'Anti-Christ' I read with a detached eye, to just see the social implications on histories' mentalities. I can read the worst, and see the best forces operating in them__It'd be nice if everyone could read em' that way, and not develop such ridiculous superstitions and prejudices...rrr
Universal Values of Nature and Naturalism (philosophy) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalism_(philosophy))
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Naturalism is divided into two philosophical stances:
- Naturalized epistemology (or Methodological naturalism or scientific naturalism) which focuses on epistemology: This stance is concerned with knowledge: what are methods for gaining trustworthy knowledge of the natural world? It is an epistemological view that is specifically concerned with practical methods for acquiring knowledge, irrespective of one's metaphysical or religious views. It requires that hypotheses be explained and tested only by reference to natural causes and events.[1] Explanations of observable effects are considered to be practical and useful only when they hypothesize natural causes (i.e., specific mechanisms, not indeterminate miracles). Methodological naturalism is the principle underlying all of modern science. Some philosophers extend this idea, to varying extents, to all of philosophy too. Science and philosophy, according to this view, are said to form a continuum. W.V. Quine, George Santayana, and other philosophers have advocated this view.
- Metaphysical naturalism, (or ontological naturalism or philosophical naturalism) which focuses on ontology: This stance is concerned with existence: what does exist and what does not exist? Naturalism is the metaphysical position that "nature is all there is, and all basic truths are truths of nature."[2]
