There is an area of the Milkyway, not too far from ours, that has several planetary/solar systems in close proximity to one another. Space travel there is easy and common. It's almost as easy to do as riding a bike. In this system there are 12 planets with different varieties of intelligent life. Once in a while they hold a gathering and discuss/debate things and stuffs. A gathering is taking place there now, as one reads, and at the moment the fervor of debate is stirred by the concept of one.
Each planet has a panel arguing why their particular symbol and sound one makes should be the standard and "universal" representation of one. One of them are reading this right now with you and is quite wrought with the idea I have just introduced another concept of one with a different sound. It's not the one they know, they know ... a different one.
Which is more important for them to agree on, a universal symbol and sound of one ...
or the fact that they all do grasp the same concept and are able to understand one and each other?
Is it important to know it by a particular name, symbol, sound or important to understand the meaning, and they do in-fact agree with understanding of the meaning of one?
What does one purpose they decide?
