Evolutionary Spatial Extension of Technological Self

Evolution: of the human implementation of the rock, club, staff, spear, arrow & pyrotechnically propelled bullet.

The increasing distance between predator and prey, the hunter and the hunted, the killer & killed.

All for food, defense and plunder - via increasingly accurized technology.

Ending in grim, transcontinental missiles massively killing at a distance.

Unfortunately, we're prepared to extend ourselves the furtherest when we seek to do harm...such is our nature. What's next, target accurate laser technology directed via satellite?
But nothing's lost. Or else: all is translation And every bit of us is lost in it... - James Merrill

Re: Evolutionary Spatial Extension of Technological Self

Is there really a “we” or is it more like an “us and them” and is not “them” the very forces that manipulate the perception of the “us” into the predator/prey, killer/killed scenario. Is the “them” outer forces shaping civilization and culture and in that manipulation really owning the perception and reality of the “us”?? It is not in our nature to kill, so it comes from the outside. One has to journey into the depths of their own nature where before their eyes they witness the darkness imprinted in. Such is the only way to take back your perception and be conscious of the “them” and all plunder..

We survived, in part, due to our violence, not in spite of it.

There was also cooperation… for the hunt and the kill.

    Interesting thread-starter, RascalPuff.

I might also include that our technology is 'deadly accurate' in targeting the minds of a greater percentage of the human population, than has ever been possible prior.

One can save a lot of bullets, spears and effort, by merely seeding misinformation and waiting for the targets to sort themselves out. Huge amounts of money being made, at the same time.

And, no, I don't particularly think that any would regard me as 'paranoid', though I confess to being somewhat obsessive/compulsive by inclination and conditioning.

One does not have to 'kill the body', if one can successfully circumvent freedom of choice and personal initiative. The modern day pitfalls are many, and they are so subtle and seductive......
So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

Dear possum ...... can you supply any evidence for this. I believe there is only a 'We' ....... and that we have been armed killers since we picked up the first stone, and killers long long before that. This is what the fossil record tells us ?

What are the 'outer forces' ??

The species undergoing a Then and Us ->- to ->- We transition as dominant paradigm in our collective mindset.

Competitive ->- to ->- Collaborative Practice transitions as our individual (all of) motivation
    for
    being.

I agree - this was described (in the TV series Lost) by the idea (which the main characters in the fictional presentation did not appear to believe (which human beings (in real life) haven't been able to fully grasp)) ... ...

    - the idea that 'there are no others ... ... ...'

    Nothing to fight about,
Just a place in, in, in

    - a place within

    the daydream.

Re: Evolutionary Spatial Extension of Technological Self

Before you are born the collective as society exists and pulls you into it, the collective as society is on levels. The family as a level is a traditional community functioning in levels of mutually supportive, face to face, intimate and unconditional interactions.

Formal organizations are another level and are large, impersonal bureaucratic associations that exist for clearly defined economic or political purposes. This being the highest level represents society on an institutional level. Sociologically this level is understood as faceless, anonymous forces holding the power to shape lives, holding the power of bonding social solidarity. If it can shape in the same values it is considered high social solidarity in a group, in a society.

It is these forces which hold the strongest potential to manipulate the perception and reality of the group in such strong solidarity they own the perception and reality of that group. A good example is the Military.

Greg, from a sociological perspective we have for ongoing centuries, never been free of the ideology of Kings, Royalty, Emperors, Presidents, Prime Ministers and so always by consequence keep getting tossed under the forces of collectivism by a few opposed to an open democracy elected by the people and for the people.

It is not in my nature to kill that potential comes from the forces in the outer. Infants and tiny children do not think, they have no possibility to be at variance with themselves; this comes from the outer as they try to touch the world and build structures of understanding.

The original incentives of survival ironically unfolding into what is presently among the greatest threats to humanity.

Notably, the formal address to destructive human aggression is an academic cirriculum subject, only since Conrad Lorenz' authorship of 'On Aggression', in 1960:
which has since then become a genre of (generally 'obscure') essays and books, specifically addressing the (conspicuously unpopular) subject of the causes, effects and possible remedies for violence and war; which, for the most part, is publicly attended (very intensively) under the auspices of 'entertainment'.

"Humanity must end war, before war ends humanity." - JFK (Paraphrased)

The general solution to this immense problem does not appear close at hand.
On the contrary, it appears to be growing worse.
Whereas, every kind of violence is a pejorative mainstay in the (corporate state media cultivated) American appetite for diversive recreation.

Readers may draw their own conclusions.
