Re: MONITERING THE OMINOUSLY CULMINATING AFTERMATH of the 8.9 JAPANESE QUAKE of 3/11/

There shall be plenty of economic effect globally related to the circumstances in Japan and this just in from the auto sector:

Ford Motor Co. shut a plant in Kentucky and Germany this week in part to conserve parts, while General Motors Co. idled a Louisiana plant in March because of parts shortages. Toyota Motor Corp. has also warned that some of its U.S. plants may be temporarily shut at some point.

Meanwhile, most U.S. auto makers have switched their plants away from using Xirallic-based paints. The production of Xirallic, an additive that provides a glitter effect in some auto paints, was shut down after the Japan plant where it is produced was damaged. Merck KGaA said it expects the plant to return to production in June. The plant is the only place in the world where Xirallic is made.

The loss of Xirallic is especially hard on Chrysler's Fiat dealers, who are no longer accepting customer orders for cars painted in its bright red trademark colors known as Rosso Brillante. The Italian auto maker Fiat SpA has management control over Chrysler.

    http://autoparts.seafar.com/news/201...nese-vehicles/

While the world might well be better for fewer vehicles, there is ever the specter of the loss of income related to loss of jobs. The economics is ever calculated in financial numbers and the demographics likewise given as numbers.

Financially, this is being described as the most costly catastrophe in our history, but can any of us truly begin to comprehend the human costs as this story continues?

This is but one of many stories playing out around the globe where the cost of economics versus the human factor lies in the balance.

Awareness of these circumstances does not make me a pessimist, though it does make me a concerned citizen of this planet.

Re: MONITERING THE OMINOUSLY CULMINATING AFTERMATH of the 8.9 JAPANESE QUAKE of 3/11/

    A Few Educated Opinions...

Professor Christopher Busby, of the European Committee on Radiation Risks, says that what we are witnessing in Japan is even worse than Chernobyl and prabably be an end to nuclear industry worldwide.

“I have said right from the beginning that this was a Chernobyl-level disaster,” he said. “I would hope that it means that the nuclear industry is finished. In my opinion, it is going to finish the north of Japan off. I don’t see what they can do about it. They are going to have a very large exclusion zone, and the cost is going to be absolutely phenomenal, so the nuclear industry is finished. But then I thought about Chernobyl and what happened there – there was a massive international cover-up by the nuclear lobby of all the health effects of the Chernobyl accident, which is only coming out now.”

John Large, an independent nuclear consultant, says that Tepco has begun to take control of the Fukushima-1 site, a week after they should have, and now the worldwide community might learn the real scale of the contamination and spread of radiation.

The Japanese believed this cascade from the earthquake and tsunami could never happen, or would happen so infrequently that they did not have to take account of it,” he said. “And as a result they never practiced it, never rehearsed for this type of accident. We saw the Japanese for the first two weeks running around like headless chickens not knowing what to do. The real problem is this: if you take a measure, like flooding the reactor with water, that may only lead to serious consequences later on, when they have all the accumulated water offsite which is highly radioactive. Then you will have to make a decision on how to deal with the water: Will you keep it inside in trenches, or discharge it into the sea with consequences for the marine environment? So, whichever way they turned, they have been ill prepared and they poorly planned for the consequences of their succeeding actions.”

The consequences are going to be disastrous if compared to Chernobyl’s tragedy in 1985, Large argues, as Fukushima-1 is a bigger facility than Chernobyl was. Fukushima-1’s crisis involves three reactors, while Chernobyl’s tragedy involved only one. Moreover, Large added, “there were very heavy actions taken by the Soviets at the time to try and control the situation in an ordered way. Here we have disorder and chaos.

Hi Sugarbear….I wanted to let you know that your words here are deeply touching and your natural potential to be empathic is quite luminous regardless of what word structure it is conveyed in!

Although I struggle to understand your remarks to RP—I have never yet found RP on Toe to be a person marked by indifference or apathy. A strong chord of deep empathy resounds through all his threads and subject matters discussed. Possibly you are failing to understand that the highest expression of ‘empathy’ is to take serious concern for the possibility of human extinction.

These are difficult matters we are dealing with that have risen as global events fully able to resonate with the deepest chords of our human nature to desire life, survival, love and peace as we progress through our lives.

Basically I feel we are facing pure ‘corporational human folly’ and we have seen the conclusion as a blowback on innocent human lives, on the ecosystems of earth’s species, an assult on the earth’s hydrosphere and a grave disruption on any possibility we are given for ‘peace of mind’ in our lives.

An assult on the composition of the ocean is disruption to a component of the earth’s hydrosphere and all species within it dependent on salinity ranges. The ocean’s may have their divisions but in all reality it is an interconnected body of salt water called the ‘world or global ocean.’ The ocean affects the biosphere, water cycles affect temperature, wind patterns and climate that affect life on the land. Water molecules must absorb incoming light. The ocean is involved with Bioluminescence or chemical reactions which release energy as light emission essential to marine vertebrates and invertebrates—everything stays alive! (photosynthesis) The ocean is responsible for thermohaline circulation as a great Ocean Conveyor that handles deep water currents and surface currents. Ocean currents affect climate through heat transference.

Freshwater fluxes create global density gradients that drive the thermohaline circulation part of large-scale ocean circulation—it plays an important role in supplying heat to the polar regions and sea-ice regulation. Changes in thermohaline circulation affect the earth’s radiation budget, atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and climate.

From data I have studied, the Great Ocean Conveyor seems to have its own intelligence and our own human folly just may be assulting it in the worst possible ways. I kind of think the THC is crucial to life as we know it on earth.

We can get out of the paradigm of ‘the sky is falling’ if we end our resistance to open honesty, our resistance to open-heartedness, our resistance to open-mindedness and our resistance to our own now ‘forced’ sensitive awareness of where we are at, here at this point in our own history and our individual and collective lives. We have to garner the courage to stand up with dignity against the inelegant paths taken by those who seek only corporational control and manipulation of the earth, the world we live in and the lives we live.

Re: MONITERING THE OMINOUSLY CULMINATING AFTERMATH of the 8.9 JAPANESE QUAKE of 3/11/

The majority of lifeforms on the planet are not visible to our naked eye. Though they are responsible for the enabling of life, we tend not to give them much thought unless they cause us stomach upset or disease. As I was soaking my head in the shower this morning, I wondered what effect that radiation shall have upon the unseen world, rather fittingly, as radiation is also not visible to us without instruments of measure.

Bacteria are prokaryotes, which means they do not have nucleated cells like plants and animals. They have DNA, but it has only one strand, as opposed to the two intertwined strands the higher organisms possess.

While bacteria can cause disease, a great proportion of bacteria are beneficial. The flora within the guts of humans makes digestion possible. Soil bacteria drive the process of decomposition. Regardless of how big an ecosystem, if bacteria were not present, it would collapse.

Perhaps the most important battle in the lifetime of all those presently on the planet, and for future generations, is raging right beneath our noses, unseen.

As always, we live in interesting times.....

Re: MONITERING THE OMINOUSLY CULMINATING AFTERMATH of the 8.9 JAPANESE QUAKE of 3/11/

Regarding the subject of 'conspiracies'... Our 'reason' for a decade of war in Vietnam was based on the huge prevarication - supported by 'major media', that we were there to 'liberate the people of South Vietnam'. Saigon was steaming vessel of nefarious 'puppet government'. The U.S. supervised creation of the Army of The Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) was a terrific effort to create the illusion that there was a serious impasse between North & South Vietnam. Most any Vietnam vet testifies that the ARVN element - with few exceptions - was not motivated with any esprit de corps to oppose the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). Some people - all over the world and especially the United States - are still arguing about whether that war was or not an enormous motivationaly - decade extended - illusion, generated by the (Especially industrial) Corporate State.

'Beware the military-industrial complex, lest they lead us in to war for profit' (paraphrased).
    - Dwight David Eisenower, Supreme Commander of Allied Forces and two term president of the United States.

When JFK's brain was 'misplaced' and was not recovered, it ignited a lot of suspicioun that as pathological evidence it may have proved that the president was hit from the front right of his position ('the grassy knoll') - yes this is a dog eared issue, but it is also the tip of the iceberg on 'We the people's' mistrust of 'the Government'. The entire ('impressively voluminous') Warren Report is historically ineradicable, documented testimony of a massive cover-up, by way of the exclusion of literally scores of witness who were on location at Dealy Plaza when the president was murdered. These excluded witnesses includ police officers. Adding insult to injury, Allen Dulles sat on the Warren Commission committee, to determine that 'Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone'. Allen Dullles was the former Director of the C.I.A. - the man who was fired by JFK, for the debacle at the Bay of Pigs.

BP says one of its employees lost a laptop computer loaded with personal data for 13,000 Louisiana residents who filed compensation claims after the Gulf oil disaster.

The data included a spreadsheet of names, Social Security numbers, phone numbers and addresses, the Associated Press writes. The laptop was lost March 1, and although it was password protected, the data was not encrypted.

BP spokesman Curtis Thomas said the company has mailed out letters notifying the people about the potential security breach and offering to pay for credit monitoring. He added that there's no evidence anyone's information has been misused.

Asked why BP waited nearly a month before alerting the claimants, Thomas said, "We were doing our due diligence and investigating."

Whereas, the *opening post, under 'General Biology' on the Home page index, was not authored by Truly Yours, it was written by Bob Kall. Neither does it ever state or otherwise predict the end of the world as you have repeatedly and falsely stated. Here it is again:

Monitering the Gulf Oil Spill: Worst Case Scenarios
Worst Case Scenario: The Gulf Oil Spill May Be Permanent
Sit down. Get ready. Your life has begun to change. It will never be the same again. This gulf disaster is changing everything. Call your legislators. Tell them that they are now on notice. There are the constituents and there are planet killing corporations, ready to wipe out life on the planet for a profit. Those legislators have to choose whose side they are on. No more bullshit. No more lobbyists getting favors. This is not life or death.

Here's the latest report I just received from my contact inside BP:

    Ok, here's the deal.

Size of reservoir - estimated by BP and its partner, Andarko to be between 2.5B and 10B bbl. (that's 100,000,000,000 gallons and 400,000,000,000 gallons.

Yes - all of those numbers are BILLIONS.

BP has admitted in at least 3 interviews that the well casing is compromised (broken). So, when they tried the Top Kill - and then the Junk Shot - the stuff shot out the sides and didn't go much down the hole. A REAL top kill should just take a few hours - or it's not going to ever work.

The casing was undoubtedly broken apart by the natural gas 'explosion' at the bottom of the well, which was the result of methane coming out of solution (ie. the methane hydrates melting and expanding dramatically). Much like when your washer's water line has air in it and you shut off the valve and the line 'hammers', the well 'hammered' when the BOP shut (the guess is 80%), and the dramatic upshot in pressure, as well as the acoustic shockwave, broke the casing.

The Question of the Day is: Did the explosion rupture the casing for its entire length?

If that is so, then a relief well will be unable to plug the hole. TEN relief wells would be unable to plug the hole.

The consensus seems to be, among oil people I've spoken with, that this is exactly the case.

If that's so, then the well will run until Obama nukes it. That is the only thing that could close it.

If they can't plug it via the relief wells, and if they don't nuke it (it can't be conventional explosives, for a few reasons), then about 1/2 of the oil and gas will run out. That would be 50 BILLION to 200 BILLION gallons of oil, over a 10 year period. Although, like the interest you pay on a house note, the biggest part would be up-front.

Another report I discovered yesterday, can't remember where, is that there is so much methane coming out of the gulf gusher that it equals what New York City produces in a day. That methane is 25 to 100 times more deleterious than CO2 as a greenhouse gas aggravating global warming.

We need to start thinking about a black gulf that is dead, that oil and other toxins are leaking to other oceans. What will our world, our nation, the human race, life on this planet look like if all the seas die?
