    Teaching the multiplication table

Recently I was teaching my son the multiplication table. He has problem with multiplying large numbers such as 6X8, 7X6. When I tried to think up a way so he could remember the table with larger numbers, I came across the fact that if the sum of all digits add up to nine (no matter how large the number is), the number is a multiple of nine. (e.g. 5+6+2+5=18, 1+8=9, hence 5625 is a multiple of 9). As a consequence, given any random number, the probability that it is a multiple of 9 is 1 out of 9.
This may be obvious to a lot of people, but I am amazed.
Is this appropriate for this thread?

    Re: Quantum bits/Numbers

    Hi,

All numbers have a one to one correspondence with what we call physical reality, our universe. All things in our universe are made from a tiny unit of substance, Aristotle called it the Ur-bit. This quantum bit is made up of nothing more then space-time, but in the form of a unit. Every single quantum bit in the universe has a distinct value.

Numbers are the symbolic representation of these discrete bits of substance, hence the variety of numbers and types. Numbers reflect our manifested universe.

Mathematics is the manipulation of these symbols. We are amazed when observe that by manipulating them (numbers) we can actually (model) understand or generate real prossesis, but if you think about it, it couldn't be any other way!

When TOE is solved mankind will also experience a TOE in mathematics.

    Regards, Teric
