In terms of lost wisdom. The modern literary society is nothing short of a joke. American english publishing authors are lucky this day and age because most anything passes as 'literature' these days. I've seen so much of "look at how they use the bad language to demonstrate..." I mean, when did Bad language, bad grammar become a literary tool? It's really quite sad.
