I Suggest an Aim - 12-18-2005, 02:25 PM

As I've started my vacations already, I can be a lot of time around toequest and dedicate to it more, and reply back to all the posts. Now, I suggest that we acheive, the whole of toequest community, the 10,000 posts before 1 jan 2006. There are 9724 including this post, right now. I believe we can. Anyone who wants to join this aim, just post!

What exactly do you do when you are moderator? I was just curious. Most conversations around here are pretty clean and civil.

Yes, there is not much work on bad language or harsh discussions. But sometimes spamming, or double posting, do happen. But there's much mor ethan that. If you go to any philosophy forum, you will see there is now an announcement. This announcement I've written, it explains that we are going to have themed weeks from now on in toequest. I will start threads on the theme throughout the week, and there will be a debate-type of chat session at the end. Before discussing, you have to vote in a poll I will do about what you think about the theme, and those that agree within each position wil form teams. I will make a chat page for groups to discuss their arguments, which only they can enter. Then there is the main page where discussion goes, with exposition, questioning...etz. Those that didn't have time to be of a team or didn't wnat to, wil be expectators, that can read, but can post things just during the rest time, or the time to think I will give (I will moderate it). It's quite a lot, so we need peopel to come. The theme of this week is small to keep it simple: Quine, the philosopher. I would really want to have you in the threads discussing and after in the debate.

Guille, I know very little about Quine. What I do know, I simply Googled. From what I could tell, truth was the one aspect of philosophy that drove the man. He seemed almost protective of how truth would be received. He certainly contributed to what is truth in his own way. I will read up on him and try to be a contributor to the discussion.

I haven't read any of his books yet. I know abotu him from either mentions to him from books or fromr eading through internet. A deep knowledge is not needed, for he is onyl a particular philosophy, I don't espect everyone to know. And I find quit enormal his interests: I'm also very amazed about the idea of truth.

By the way, we are now 1,000 members!!! It was the second aim for before 2006. Let there be 1,00 more for 2006, and 10,000 more posts too.
