Ethics:On Violence, Destructive Human Aggression & War & the 'Entertainment Industry' - 05-13-2007, 06:34 AM

Under the heading of Philosophy, our T.O.E. Index does carry an 'Ethics' listing.

Whereas, because the physical abuse of women and children - including rape - is the fastest growing violent crime in the United States, and, because destructive human aggression and international warfare is the greatest - incumbent and worsening - threat to the perpetuation of civilization as we know if, if not the human species at large. I very respectfully request that a specific forum, approximately titled: 'On Violence, Destructive Aggression & War', be included in the T.O.E. Index.

Thanking you very sincerely for considering this request, I am

(George Berkeley, 1710) ... lay the beginning in a distinct explication of what is meant by thing, reality, existence: for in vain shall we dispute concerning the real existence of things, or pretend to any knowledge thereof, so long as we have not fixed the meaning of those words.

"All things come out of the one and the one out of all things." - Heraclitus
"Reality is an illusion - albeit a persistent one." - Einstein
"Particles give me a headache." - Ibid

I would not feel comfortable arguing for freedom, equal rights, womens rights, diversity, religious freedom, or arguing against a culture of teaching children violence, hate, disrespect, and destructive habits in that forum. So maybe I would suggest an approximate title of 'On protecting freedom and promoting citizenship for the common good'.

I agree RP that it needs discussing, whether here on an open forum is the best place,I am
somewhat uncertain of,I think also that Bogie had a point about possibly changing the
title.

regards michael.
