I was invited to AAAS conference in USA. They did not pay for the hotel of airfare. They just managed good rates from the hotels and the airline company. The sponsors actually sponsored the conferrence hall and other expenses. I understand the point you make. Ours is not a commercial forum. I just wish we could debate on the topics face to face and then reach a conclusion.

Your idea is good, dip, in theory, however I don't think it is too practical. Firstly, I'm not sure whether we have sponsors who are willing to pay to (a) rent premises for the meeting (b) pay to fly people to whichever central country is chosen or (c) pay to put people up in a hotel for the duration. Then there is also the gact that many people on here work, and so cannot take time off, and are from around the world and so a weekend would be unfesible.
Perhaps if there were more people interested then we could do some sort of one-off chat room discussion on this, or maybe use some sort of online conference calling system. These seem more fesible than a physical conference.
Still, good suggestion, and I'm sure we can think about this some more. [/size] |
