What we need to do is establish a list and a process. I like the idea of sending snail mail because the respondent is somehow required to answer. If Robert and the Mods were to agree to the contents of the letters then we could share the responsibility of the mailing. If the respondent were to decline by snail mail, we could scan the response and post it accordingly. (No money should be involved)

    Let the discussion begin

and ps.. my software may be operating properly again

We could invite them to give us a talk on their own personal Toe and promise them that they would not need to follow it up in any way so it's just a one off letter from the modern day heros of this field.

    What do you think?

    Rufe
Rufus and Dip,I know he is not a scientist but the author Peter Russell has agreed to
write an article on the TOE later this year,I sent him an email and he got back to me
right away.He is willing to debate issues regarding mind, matter, consciousness,as well as posting.Steve Hawking was on tv here last night talking about his TOE and how he is trying to unite the very large with the very small,he will be on tv again next week with
    TOE part two!

    Michael and Dip

    re:Steven Hawking

We should send him a letter right away just to see what his schedule is. Perhaps it's the right time to invite him here.

It would be such an honor to have his recorded words here. I understand there is some new debate about dark matter and dark energy and perhaps we could be the first to hear his feelings on this.

I have offered to fix the html on the page and Stan has responded once. I find that page quite fascinating and am stumbling through the objectivity and locality section right now.
Am I to understand that he is well known here at Toe?

On the same lines, we have an institute in India called the Tata Institute of Fundamental research (TIFR) that does good work in string theory and the likes. We could have a senior scientist answer our queries. Just let me know...

    Sooooo........what came of the plans?

Was this thread and subsequent actions moved to another location?

Or did it just not come to pass, fading back into mists that symbolize both origin and oblivion.

Some interesting memories in the archives of this venue.....

The seed was planted but has not germinated yet. Indeed, this is an excellent idea and should be pursued. I have a long list of great ideas, originated by myself or suggested by members, that have not yet been implemented. Fortunately, I maintain a list of all such ideas, in the hope that one day I'll have the time to fully explore and implement the best ones. The good news is that I have been able to free up much of my time recently to do just this. I'll make an announcement shortly (probably on Monday) with the details.

Thank you for the response, Robert, and I look forward to your announcement and the details.

Seeds are small miracles, time capsules of life.

The seeds of the common Lambs-quarter or Pig-weed, is capable of laying dormant for approximately 40 years until conditions are favorable for it's emergence.

Ideas, likewise, may remain dormant until time favors their advancement.

    Interesting times, as ever.

A news piece on the various Lotteries, currently on T.V. Did your lucky numbers get pulled, by chance? I'm undecided if I can picture you as one who would invest in random chance......

    Regards,
