The "remember me" box is right next to the "username" and "password" fields at the top right when you sign in. But, since you don't sign in, I guess you must have checked the remember me box sometime in the past in order for the website not to prompt you when clicking on the favourite. Thus, you shouldn't really be being kicked out halfway through posting. I'm afraid I can't be of any more assistance than that!

Hmm.. I don't remember which one was your avatar. Still, you should be able to change it if you click on usercp>user control panel and then select "edit avatar" on the left hand side.
