OXFORD: An Intelectual Voyage - 08-06-2005, 06:22 AM

Hi. I know that some of you have been waiting for me to post this. Please bare in mind that, as this is the first thread in this forum, I have decided to follow as much as I can, Robert's introductory guidlines. I beleive that there are two main forms of writing this story: literatelly or Analytically. I have tried to make a mixture of them which I hope you enjoy.

Analytical part:

My saga tells the story of a voyage I made between Saturday 25th of June and Monday 25th of July. It was from my living and born-in city, Madrid, Spain, to Oxford, the University city, in England (United Kindom). I lived in a palace of the 19th century English style, not exactly in Oxford, but twenty minutes from it: In a village called Wheatley. During my month there I was with my teacher Marcos (as we lived together, we called him by is name, to get more friendly) and my brother Fernando, who is 11 months younger than me. Marcos has a bohemian character, he likes a lot going on the bike and investigate around nature, he is a very efficient worker: he doesn't like wroking always the same thing, so he has several different works, apart from teaching. Fernando is the person that can memorise more data that I've ever met. He remembers the economical numbers of all the important countries, companies, shareholders... He enjoys Geography and Hsitory, specially when they come together (Geographical History or Historic Geography). Last year we came a month to Oxford, so basically all we did we knew, and we knew a lot more about Oxford. We met (again) the person who Marcos knew and let us live in his zone of the house, of name Robin, age 60, he is a clasical English gentleman, with an electric personality, and a normal person would say that he is crazy. I met several Spanish people, not very relevant to the story. I've said the settings and characters in Analytical manner, now I will tell the events in literate way.

Litterate Part:

When I open my eyes in the morning, I saw the green wall of my room just infront of me, centemeters away. Then I felt a back ache, and suddenly remembered everything of the last night: I had spend until 3 in the TOE quest forums, and as I was very tierd, I just didn't make it to my bed. I got up notinced the smell of toasts coming from the kitchen, then I remembered that it was the day I was going to Oxford, but I had hundred of things to do before. I did this hundred of things which, if mentioned, would make this the most boaring story of all of what you have read in your life. As expected, the day I cam to Oxford, it rain. So I palyed with my brother and my teacher the famous board game called monopoly, suprisingly, for the first time in my life. The two weeks went very very fast, and it was the time that I dedicated principally to learn: I had a Britanica Enciclopaedia in my room, it was from 1967, but I managed to read dozens of pages about philosophical themes and some physics and math, but mainly philosophy. This weks it rain all, all the days. The third week and the beginning of the fourth were great because it didn’t rain for 10 days! I’m not sure, but I think it was one of the records in the history of england! That week we went out a lot, mainly visiting palaces (In one of them, my brother lost his Ipod). The last week was like the first ones, but it was good because we now had friends with who’m to have good time. I had really good time in Oxford. I read for the first time in my life “A Brief History of Time” By Stephen Hawking. I developed the biggests parts of my philosophy personal project for school until now, and I got interested in number theory more than ever.

I learned so many things that I think that I can’t mention them all. One thing I learned is that differentiation leads to equality, and this is a mayor natural law.
