To really begin to understand the term '' Illusion '' or '' Illusory ''
You must first begin to understand the term '' Consciousness ''
The term Consciousness can be taken generally to refer to the inner awareness of being, which each of us has or is within our lives.
Although we might see another persons physical being, we cannot examine their inner world of consciousness or their experience of being.
Yet, in a very real sense, it is within this inner world that each of us has our existence,
and in order to understand the issues of consciousness, we must make an effort to understand it within ourselves through direct inner awareness and experience.
This approach is necessary to supplement other scientific approaches,
and it is the method of the mystics, yogis and masters of the esoteric traditions who study consciousness within themselves,
and make conscious efforts to attain more of it, and to be enlightened as to the nature of Self.
It cannot be taught. It is who you are already.
You are the Microcosm of the Macrocosm.
You must cease to be aware of yourselves.
You must be nothing but an ear which hears what the universe of the word is constantly saying within you. To remember who you are.

Hi Mel....I would have to disagree with your definition of consciousness. Developing inner awareness is a stage of consciousness but "CONSCIOUSNESS" is to attain completely the understanding of the actual world we are in and its domains concerning the philosophy of society and economics which are the forces determining if we are a just society because IMHO, the ultimate purpose of the Universe (God) and the creation of Intelligent humanity would be the creation of an intelligent and sentient civilization on this our planet earth....
It is quite evident from our history that an understanding of these domains relevant to our need for alignment with a higher inner morality has not been possible as long as humanity functions from lower-level mental and cognitive processes.....

My definition of consciousness is 'Noumenal' a thing as it is, in itself no distinctions.
No concept in mind.

Your definition is distinct from a thing as it is knowably by the senses through
' Phenomenal ' attributes. Conceptual.

All ''things'' are non-sense any thing apparently sensed is just an image
conceived to be what ever I conceive it to be,
including myself and everyone else.
Phenomena perceiving by the senses through immediate experience.

YET
There are no others to conceive ME... Noumenally .. I simply AM and Am not.

Every-thing is already perfect just AS IT IS ''arising'' including the chaos we don't like.
All phenomena ''things'' are defined as objects.
Awareness requires NO-THING to be aware of objects.
All objects including our brains have NO cognition. Cognition has them.
Ego and objects of desire are name and form imaged through sensation are objects of love.
Consciousness is not in ''things'' .. ''things'' are in Consciousness.
There is nothing to understand. Nothing to attain. Nothing to solve.
Yet is appears that I am THAT what is it that expresses via the mind the thought '' I AM '' ?
While looking through all eyes . I cannot look myself in the I.
All appearances included.
The ocean is every wave but a wave is not the whole ocean.
Yet ever and only One Ocean.

We are the movie Stars in the Universal Studio Dream Show produced by the Perfect Awareness and so that makes us the mostest perhaps in Its Mind's 'I', but it's always good to be humble about what we are, lest we get any ideas of special grandeur.
