Jungjedi,I work with many who have been diagnosed as having the mental illness called
schizophrania,as a mental health nurse I have been involved in their care for many years.
The illness can manifest in many ways, some very subtle, while other manifestations are
very distressing and full on madness.
Some indeed do talk to God,some think that they are God,(ring any bells anyone?) And
some hear God speak to them, but these are a very small proportion of those who are
afflicted with the illness.
Most are less severe, but the quality of their life without medication is very poor, indeed,
even with medication some only have slight improvements.

when you talk to god.you are praying.
when god talks to you.you are schizophranic.
what is schizophrania?????
It is now luckly that there are some online dictionaries free of charge for people to check the meaning of jargons of very professional usuage.
In www.thefreedictionary.com schizophrenic means a person afflicted with psychosis. In my humble opinion, this thread points out a phenomenon that seems unfair to the one who is different to other mainstreamers nowaday.
When you do some routine works, like praying or searching for TOE, it is OK.
But when you tell others that God talked to you or when you proclaim that you achieved a TOE, people take you as schizophrenic!

why is the quality of life so poor.i recently was diagnosed as schizo affective through an outcourt therapy group.ive had alot of trouble over the years in social situations.but, this time i was almost sent to jail for 10 yrs,ive never been in trouble with the law and ive tried so very hard just to stay at par with normal people,so ive always known there was something different about my situation.i hope the anti-psychotic drugs ive been given can help me think clearer.if only a little bit.
and i know that paranoia is part of the terratory.but ,people have been such assholes over the years

Dear Jungjedi,
I think you find the right person mkirkpatrick.
According to your words "but, this time i was almost sent to jail for 10 yrs" for schizophrania. I think you made that case failed already. It shows that you possess the genius to flight and protect yourself. Don't worry too much about the future.
Jungjedi, hope that all is well with you this day,the illness of schizophrenia is and can be
a very frightening experience, especially if you have the accompanying paranoia that often
comes with this illness.
It can be controlled by medication, and I have personally seen many respond very well
to it,and be able to live a fairly normal life,(as long as they continue taking there medication)that is!This is themost important thing to remember, that once stabilized by
finding the right medication that works for you,you must continue taking it,even though
the florrid symptoms of the illness cease,ie,the "voices fall silent"or the paranoia falls away!
It is very sad to witness someone who has been well and getting on with there life, stop
taking their medication, and relapse into florrid psychosis.
regards michael.

i get this bad mood that washes over me and i cant shake it.so ive been given some tricyclic antidepressants and some INVEGA.they help alot so that i am better able to shake off a bad vibe that previously would have clouded my day.so,its just me and my meds right now
the weird thing is,i got a job at the mall that lets me meet alot of friendly people.if it went for my trouble with the law i probably wouldnt have these meds or all these new friends.
do you think my phychiatrist might switch meds on me in the future?

jungjedi, thanks for your post,I am pleased for you that you have a job at the mall.and
are meeting and making new friends, thats great news,if you become stabilised with your
medication, then I would suggest that you stick with it,I dont know what your phychiatrist
will do about your meds, here in the UK if a patient is responding well to meds, and the distressing symtoms have abated, then the doc will usually leave changing the meds,as they seem to be working so well.Youwill have to discuss this with him/her.
Hope things keep improving for you.take care my friend.

Cognitive Dysfunction
Schizophrenia: seems to be like dreaming while awake—for the visions and voices seem to be coming from somewhere else. Unlike waking imaginations, which don’t get in the way of reality since they are 99% transparent, schizophrenic reality seems to be fully there.
Obsession: seems to come from persistent thoughts that come from an imbalance in neurotransmitters. It ranges from the “mildness” of being a neat freak or a controller to carrying a coffee maker to work everyday to make sure it was turned off.
Anxiety: seems to come from persistent worry, again from imbalances.
Low-lifes: imbalances.
Grouches: imbalances.
For sure, many of our impulses and aversive behaviors are certainly no longer useful to us in the specific sense. Negative feedback mechanisms in our central nervous systems, in particular, continue to send out thousands-of-years-old messages. How easily these emotionally primitive messages lead to most of our problems, cravings, and addictions. Perhaps this type of knowledge should be the most often taught course in elementary school and high school.
As for blaming evil on outside influences, the devil does not whisper to you, but low serotonin does, affecting mood, usually for the bad, and, in the long term, causing mental illnesses or at least a crummy life.
Low levels of the mood-regulating neurotransmitter, serotonin, can lead not only to anxiety, depression, and persistence of thought (obsession), but also to anger, hostility, violence, and, with a low standing heart rate, inducing fearlessness, to crime.
Low serotonin can be the result of genetics, stress, or lack of exercise. You don’t believe that low serotonin causes problems? Are you not irritated at things when you’re under stress, things that never would have bothered you otherwise? Why do you kick the cat or the dog for the same noise that was OK and cute last week? Well, the brain, when irritable, associates the irritability with the most recent happening.
As for emotions in general, the mind is rather weak in fighting off emotions since they seem to have a separate and direct pathway into consciousness, thus bypassing all of the rational brain areas. Our highly valued feelings and emotions are merely molecular events; they are sometimes meaningful and sometimes merely spurious, but, either way, have a way of overwhelming any logic that one might manage to dredge up from any sanity. Emotions often take sole control, obliterating logic completely.
This non-coordination of reason and emotion is probably all there is to tell, really, about all the miseries and follies of human history, the many great and “deep” theories of historians not withstanding.
What to do about all these evolutionary relics? Well, to further reduce the strange thoughts, meditation can help. Practice letting undesired thoughts just sail on by into oblivion. The mind becomes quiet.
Then, next time a “false” crisis arises, you will know how to instantly quiet your mind. Soon life becomes euphoric as you reach the higher modes of being, true paradise being simply an attainable state of mind. You will become fully present for the moment, enjoying life completely, as regrets of the past and fears of the future fade away into meaninglessness. You are fully alive—you are in the zone, in the now, where you cannot miss, where everything you touch turns to gold, the world looking like one big wish. You have reached the Treasure House, instead of stumbling outside in the dark over trifles, even in TOE forums.
