    Re: The brain

    B. The Man Without a Brain!

One young man examined by Dr. Lorber, who was then a student at Sheffield University, had a measured IQ of 126, a first class honors degree in mathematics; and virtually no brain. This student's brain cortex is a layer about 1/25th of an inch (1 mm) thick, lining his skull. His brain weight is estimated to be about 2/10 of one pound (about 0.090 kg). That is only about 7% of normal brain weight. This student is one of many normal persons with almost no brain.

Clearly these observational facts show that intelligence and brain size are not related. Normal brain size is not necessary to be of perfectly normal intelligence. What makes man unique is not the size of his brain.

The size of the ship matters not, just the motion of the ocean… of the neurons.

That is Dandy-Walker Syndrome and it causes a lot of problems.

He was a university student with first class honors and a degree in Mathematics. That sure does not seem like too many problems to me...

Even if we utilize 25% of the capacity of the brain, we will work wonders..

There is a difference between what we think and how the brain works.

He was fortunate; many of the others had problems.

    Re: The brain

Myth: "We only use 10 percent of our brain"

That's a rather optimistic message; and lots of people believe that myth.

However, neuroscientists fall over when they hear that.

The fact is that we need about everything what's in the brain.

The idea that we only use 10 % of our brain, is popular with people who are interested in extrasensory perception or ESP and other paranormal phenomena. Believers often use this myth to explain the existence of such phenomena.

Trying to ground a belief which is outside the domain of science, on a scientific fact is nothing new, but it gets really crazy when even that scientific fact turns out to be untrue.

In reality, we use our entire brain every day; we use 100 percent of our brain.

If entire pieces of brain would never be used, injuries to those places hardly would give a problem; but this is not the case!

Functional imaging techniques which are able to measure the activity of the brain, also prove at the same time that simple tasks are already sufficient to make the brain active in all locations.

P.S.: Our brain uses about the same amount of energy as the lamp of our refrigerator.
