| | Antonio,
I don't think I'm getting your point.
do you mean animals are or aren't intelligent? | | | | Raider of the lost time

| | in a world full of preys and predators, intelligence is what needed to survive. Human are at the top of the food chain, therefore human are the most intelligent. What is at the bottom of the food chain are the least intelligent. Yet the dumb virus and bacteria can kill any human being very easily and very quickly. They hide their dumbness by being very small so that it's difficult to see them and they are also plentiful by the millions in a drop of water. | | | | The Thinker

| | Antonio,
Now I do understand, thanks.
Now, I have to state that intelligence isn't the only important fisical, chemical or biological property or subject. | | | | Raider of the lost time

| | i just found out today that a lot of animals, fishes and bats in particular, communicate by distinct sound waves, which can only be encoded and decoded by each specific species producing the sounds. So bat's intelligence is how to produce this specific sounds, while me as a human does not have this so called bat's intelligence to produce the distinct sounds, otherwise I would be able to communicate with bats. | | | | The Thinker

| | I'm still thinking a lot about the best way of describing intelligence.
The cerebral capacity is ok, but not good enough for me.
Does anybody have an idea of a good description? | | | | Blue Belt

| | I think intelligence is best described by: Capacity to knowingly make the right decisions. | | | | Raider of the lost time

Originally Posted by GUILLE Does anybody have an idea of a good description? | I mentioned elsewhere that a typical human brain contains 100 to 200 billions neurons. After that, it becomes very difficult to do more of these neural connections as the saying goes: it is difficult to lead an old horse to water.
So, without further ado, intelligence is somehow related to the optimal number of connections for the neurons in our brain. And since volition is not a part of the process of connection, the way it is connected is not dependent on a priori choice of good or bad but subjected to the external stimuli from actual experiences, the connections can lead to a criminal mind or an altruistic mind. | | | | The Thinker

| | To Omni, Antonio and to all in general,
What do you think about this description!?:
Intelligence is the cerebral capacity and the mental ability which leads to make decisions, comunicate, deduce, memorize, imagen, calculate, make analogies, reasoning, find relationships, create, learn.....caused by the cognitive process and conections between neurons. | | | | Raider of the lost time
