    Hearing Voices

So, some people with psychiatric and psychological mental disorders experience psychosis-like symptoms such as hearing -imagined- voices. I wonder if, biologically, these voices are imagined, or if something does actually trigger a neuronal impulse somewhere in the trajectory between the inner ear ossicles(receptors) and the temporal lobe of the brain where such audition 'stimuli' are normally integrated.

any thoughts or articles speaking of this you've encountered?!

I think these experiences are like dreaming when one is awake, as once I was able to keep a good dream song playing for about 10 seconds after I woke up (by not moving).

Hello Hoda,Interesting post, many do indeed hear voices,
some are called schizophrenic episodes, extreme paranoia,
various other hearings of "disembodied" voices labeled as
metal illness, all the above are usually seen as negitive
and frightening, however there is another phenomena called
clairaudience where the medium (that's what those doing this are called)hears voices from those in spirit, people who have died. There are many books about this subject,or look it up on the internet,Doris Collins wrote a book called "Voices in my ear"all about here clairaudiant experiences.

    Hope this helps,kind regards michael.

Pity us to be labelled for our past knowledge of "self" and our capabilities and potentials were buried in the dustbins of history.

The ancients experienced higher fragments of visual and auditory information and they were revered in their societies'.

Today we are labelled, made a victim and told we are crazy.

    Re: Hearing Voices

I thought I heard a woman's voice the other night when almost asleep. I didn't think that I heard it in the room, that was the strangest part ... I was pretty sure it was in my head. "Hello." that's all it was. It didn't make me all that uncomfortable but it did at the same time because, I had to wonder. "Am I crazy, or did I just really hear a woman's voice?"

I had an MRI done a few years back because of headaches. The only thing that showed up was a sub-centimeter area of irregularity in my left occipital lobe. Maybe that's why I have a had time making sense of some things. I think of it as a tiny block of something. I get "headaches" still but they are way different than they use to be. It's less of a headache, and more like a tingling sensation that seems to move around, mostly on the "top" of my "head."

For a while, I was worried about the MRI and thought I should get another one because ... "it could be growing!" I really don't care anymore. Too many other things to not "worry" about.
It's not about understanding... it's about *not* giving up!

    Interesting.

The corresponding Modern English verb to ken survives only in northern British dialects including Scots, although a noun derivative exists in the standard language in the set expression beyond one’s ken “beyond the scope of one’s knowledge”

You have been active on the forum, engaging the thoughts of several people on several subjects.

What exactly is a "thought"? Electromagnetic energy? From whence does it come and where does it go? LW

Telepathy and syncronicity are topics that have been studied, inconclusively, by some reputable individuals.

    Theories:

Although over the centuries various theories have been advanced to describe the functioning of telepathy, none seem to be adequate. Telepathy, like othe psychic phenomena, transcends time and space. The ancient Greek philosopher Democritus put forth the wave and corpuscle theories to explain telepathy. In the 19th century, the British chemist and physicist William Crookes, thought telepathy rode on radio- like brain waves. Later in the 20th century the Soviet scientist L. L. Vasilies proposed the electromagnetic theory. The American psychologist Lawrence LeShan proposed that each person has his or her personal reality, and the psychics and mystics share separate ones from other people which allow them to access information not available to others.

In conclusion telepathy, like the other forms of psychic phenomena is elusive and difficult to test systematically. Enough evidence is available to reasonably substantiate the phenomenon does exist. But, quantifying it seems to be another matter. The phenomenon is closely connect to the emotional states on both the sender and receiver which creates difficulty in replicating experimental results. Attitudinal factors also influence the phenomenon. The best that researchers can hope for is to have supportive and receptive subjects in experiments that produce similar results. A.G.H.

Synchronicity: A term coined by Jung to designate the meaningful coincidence or equivalence (a) of a psychic and a physical state or event which have no causal relationship to one another. Such synchronistic phenomena occur, for instance, when an inwardly perceived event (dream, vision, premonition, etc.) is seen to have a correspondence in external reality: the inner image of premonition has "come true"; (b) of similar or identical thoughts, etc. occurring at the same time in different places. Neither one nor the other coincidence can be explained by causality, but seems to be connected primarily with activated archetypal processes in the unconscious.
