    Re: m.o.m

    Interesting links, Racecar.

How many of you have experienced the 'energy of place'? The earth has many mysteries that are not yet well understood by us, although some of the ancient cultures had quite a grasp on these unseen forces, utilizing them, even without a 'scientific explanation.'

Animals, too, are sensitive to the unseen forces. When I am out riding, I have encountered many regions which may appear almost identical, yet have 'felt' different, for no immediately discernable reason.

There are places which are inviting and relaxing, and you will linger and harvest from the wild, enjoy a picnic, let the horse graze, whatever seems pleasing at the time.

Other places may appear equally scenic, the sun is shining, and yet.....

The field of view is clear. No sign or predators, or any visible indication that anything is untoward. Yet, you feel uneasy, sometimes cold in spite of the warm sun, or feel like your 'hackles are raising.' The horse, whether in response to yourself or the surrounds, is likewise obedient, but not relaxed.

Whether in the city, the wilderness, a particular building, highway or waterway, there are places with a different feel, that have effect upon us.

I have taken others with me, and said nothing, that I might observe their reactions. When I have suggested stopping at such a place, they have indicated a willingness to 'obey' me, as their trusted leader, but have always seized upon the next option down the trail, offered when I have observed their reaction.

My best scientific guess, is that it has to do with electro-magnetism in the underlying geology, unseen, but not unfelt. We have one region farther north, called the Tintina Trench, and when weather moves through the area, the trench receives many times more the electrical strikes than the similar topography surrounding it.

Another interesting relationship between 'mind' and 'matter'.

I picked the eight of hearts, not the nine, but it, too, was near the center of focus, the others being quite 'out of focus'.

So, what's a prime number between 20 and 50 whose digits are both odd but not the same?

(I can't recall, though, if this is the exact criteria.)

That would immediately narrow the field down to the numbers 31, 35, 37 and 39, in my opion.

Discard 35 and 39 as divisible, and I believe you have a choice of 31 or 37.

But I'm not one of those math sorts. This is probably a trick question and you're just setting me up, Austin, but I'll play the game, lol.....

It's kind of the same way a magician narrows down one's choices, I guess.

I think most people pick 37, out of the two choices.

My thing wasn't a magic trick. In fact my thing wasn't even a real object. It was a cartoon like image and green in color. If it was a magic trick I don't know how it got in my bedroom. I certainly don't know how a 2 year old boy could make such a thing appear either. I think this is a good one for Melanie and others that believe in the unreal to explain. I would really like to know what this thing was, it was like a hologram but with sound (just a fluttering) and wind. Is that possible with technology? I know it's possible in Disney World but I never knew something like that could happen in my bedroom.

Can you tell me what size and shape the bedroom was, where the window was located, size of the window, whether or not it was open, what was the lighting, inside and outside, etc.

I'd be interested in a few more details, and possibly the following might offer some explanation.

Riding my horse down to the mailboxes two miles away, on a bright, sunny and windy day, with snow still on the ground, we encountered a real weird one.

There was a large "pink patch" of snow, across the trail, immediately in front of us, a wavering hologram type of image.

My horse stopped and glued it's ears forward, watching this 'thing', 'no-thing'.

The only sound was the wind. I noticed that the image seemed to ripple in time with the wind.

Looking around, I noticed that the large red stop sign at the intersection was also, keeping time to the wind gusts.

Further examination revealed the sun to be at just the right angle, that we were getting a giant relection from a stop sign, many yards away, diffused and refracted on the spring snow.

Many times had I ridden there before and since, and never have I seen it's like again, in any other location either.

By the time I had done my analysis, my horse likewise had calmed considerably, and proceeded forward at my urging, with head lowered to the image, and picking her feet up most carefully, as if to be sure she got none of it on her.

Light, and how we and other mammals perceive it, makes for some interesting, and not always easy to explain 'sightings'.

This is the apartment complex I lived in at the time. I lived in the model 2A style. I don't think the window was open because they lived with me in the winter. You can see in the link, the upper window was the bedroom window, it was pretty large and the bedroom window faced the man made pond like in the pic.http://www.apartments.com/partner/su...&partner=AptHL

The bedroom was 14x14 feet, I think, it was a square and big. There may have been pond light on, it wasn't pitch black but it was night.

This thing was flying, floating around our heads. It was a spinning pinwheel shape, bright green. The little boy pointed it out to me, it scared me at first coz it was weird. It was pretty much spinning around the room, in front of us and behind us. The window was to the right and I was facing a wall that was closets the entire length of it. The bedroom door was to the left and there was also a bathroom door on the left. It wasn't snowy because his dad worked for a landscaping company and did snow removal in the winter and there wasn't any snow to remove. I even felt the breeze and heard it flutter, which sounded close or distant depending on where it was floating, flying. It was really a neat to see once the fear left.

Thank you for providing more details, Sally, especially the link to the photo.

The pond could have acted as a reflective surface, winter or summer, and with other people, activities and light sources nearby, I might guess that it was some combination of events that caused the phenomenon you both observed.

Here is a link to circumhorizontal arcs, which are another really unusual effect of light, although would not account for what you saw, the conditions required being quite specific.

Thank you for sharing your unusual experience. Some things occur rarely, and not everyone shall have occasion to witness every possible thing.

    Re: m.o.m

I don't think I've ever seen anything that I couldn't have at least thought of some "typical" explanation for, but on the other hand I'm also confident that there are many things that have no such explanation and there are many things that are "typical" that when you dig down have no explanation for. In many ways the "magic" happens all the time but it's so "front and center" that it goes overlooked.

I have had many people swear up and down about things that might normally be considered paranormal or events that are foreseen to an extent (though I guess I might have my share too, but to me they just seem common sense - it's not magic, it's just how things work ... but then again, how do you explain "how things work"?)

Anyway, I have not been able to verify for myself that any typical form of paranormal things occur, but then again I haven't specifically looked for them and whenever there was uncertainty I'd usually paint the possibility of something predictable having occurred (despite the fact that I really didn't know).

I've personally seen enough of the normal though to know how it works (then again "normal" is rather amazing ) and it seems time to pay more attention to those boundary conditions and gray areas on the edge - I'm rather certain there's more detail in there being overlooked.
