I would like to post a new thread about not just human behavior, but the magnetic behavior of life around us, animate and inanimate. What interests me is the first impression of meeting someone who you have never met before, and at once you get the feeling of recoil, uneasiness, distrust, etc. and the opposite where you feel at ease with them, trusting, attractiveness. What is this magnetism and do we understand it? I would be most grateful for all your comments.

In my humble opinion, when we experience this phenomena, we are subconsciously receiving very subtle body language or mental energy from the individual that we either find pleasing or in conflict somehow with what they are projecting.

I have great confidence in this sense, having observed and learned from my animal companions over decades. If my animals, all of whom are welcoming and well adjusted beings, demonstrate any unusual behaviour upon meeting someone new, we proceed cautiously.

In the absence of my animal companions, I have learned to observe and sense for myself.

An interesting topic and I would be interested in hearing from others.

I see Guille posted this in 2005 and here I am in 2008 contemplating the exact theory concerning the brain as electric and the mind as magnetic. So my curiosity is about the statement that consciousness creates the mind which is a structure of magnetic energy. I am hoping Antonio can help define the possibilities of mind as magnetic as then I could grasp more insights.....

Even without an indepth understanding of these electric or magnetic forces, there are aspects of this thought that resonate with me.

I would suggest that each of us has a unique "mental signature" that is complimentary to some, creating a sense of attraction and potential for synergy. In other meetings, our "energies" are disruptive to others, which we then experience as a desire to create some space between ourselves.

I think in a sense we are talking about subliminal intelligence which is the corporeal intelligence belonging to our body....in all my studies I see this sense intelligence as our true preservational instinct....it is kind of dumbed down in our modern times through enculturation and conditioning but if you can undo conditioning..you experience this sense again and it is the most incredible experience one can have.....

Brain cells (neurons) have a hundred billion connections among them, their “firing” depending on their inputs. Electricity carries the “message” through the length of the cell to the gap (synapse), where the message turns to chemical (neurotransmitters) to take it to another neuron(s) wherein it becomes electrical again, and so forth.

Your brain neurons have been arranging their connections all your life. It is what you have become, molded by your experience and learning. You are a bio-electrical-chemical being. Consciousness arrives toward the tail end of this process.

In general, about electromagnetic waves—let’s think of space anywhere: a changing electric field produces a magnetic field and then that produces a further electric field and so on, this being a self-renewing disturbance, that is, what we know as visible light, x-rays, infrared and so much more that are of this electromagnetic spectrum. Thus, no aether is required as a medium for electromagnetic waves to propagate from here to there.

Some people may have an attractive personality and so this is called "a magnetic personality". I don't know if it is really magnetic in the real sense, but it has been shown that there can be actual chemistry between people due to pheromones wafting about.

Pheromones figure into a broad range of responses and I do not underestimate the part they may play in the attraction/repulsion response, at the biological level.

I am looking more at the intelectual level of engagement. Sometimes you encounter an individual that you may even find attractive from a personal chemistry perspective. This person may be "politically and ideologically correct" as well.

And yet..... you still don't want to engage. Very rarely, I have encountered individuals that I did not even want to be noticed by. I can't offer an easy explanation, and such encounters are not common, at least not in these remotely populated parts.
