I think that you need to practice what you preach. Lighten up you are allowing a bit of authority to go to your head. I started the thread 'the randomness of evolution' .... we had wandered far from the subject in the thread. I thought I was pointing out a valid point.

Sorry to all. When I realised Infinite Consciousness was in danger of blowing a poofoo valve I apologised and sent a PM to the moderator (Michael) along the same lines.

Graybeard, if you were spamming me why send an apology in a private message to Michael ?

You started the thread "The Randomness of Evolution" .... and then you say that --- we had wandered far from the subject in the thread. In my understanding of "evolution" materialism is the cause of evolution being random and consequently we had in fact not wandered anywhere except to the point of why evolution was random.

Materialism is the cause of all the suffering - in every way - every shape - and every form - that you can imagine in this physical - material universe and you were defending it by your repetitive empty argument that "stopping motion" was what i rellied on to prove materialism was pseudo science.

Is that spam ? i.e. repetitive loud iinsistent attempts to change one's or others understanding of a point being made by loudly repeating over and over your interpretation. Whereas your point was to destroy my established proof with your wrong assumption - the definition of that is spam.

What i established was that materialism was pseudo or false science due to the proven fact that "it had not and could not be tested" to determine its true or false status and as a consequence was pseudo or false science.

You do not need to apoligize because i was in danger of blowing a poofoo valve - whatever that is - you need to apoligize to all the ToeQuest members and guests for your attempt to bypass the fundamental principles of science i.e. to be scientific a theory such as materialism must be tested to determine its true or false status and if "it has not and cannot be tested" - whatever the reason - then it is not science it is pseudo or false science !

IC, you brought this in from another thread by suggesting Greybeard stop spamming. To me, that appears kind of childish to drag a personal beef between you and Greybeard across the board. I have not looked at the thread in question, so my comments are not about whether or not who was spamming or not, but about the silliness of polluting this thread with that.

A more mature way of handling it would have been to tell Greybeard in the other thread that you felt that his approach was spamming - and in response perhaps he could have tried a different approach to help you understand what he was talking about. If he wasn't making any sense, then just let the argument drop. Sometimes some people are not going to be able to understand what we are saying.

I repeat - I have not read the thread in question - so do not take this as I'm saying anyone was right or wrong on their position. All I have done here is give a standard technique for reaching an understanding if possible, and recognizing when to let go if it is impossible.

Addendum - after looking for a specific thread entitled "stopping motion" and not finding one, I suppose you mean the randomness of evolution thread. Obviously I did not consider the debate anything other than heated, and took so little notice of the level of heat that I did not associate the comment here with the thread there (as I said somewhere else, I came from a rather confrontational board...).

Anyway, please consider the words I said above as a debating tip that I still think you may find useful.

That in itself is an insult. I am a person, and all people should be treated according to their minds, not their genitalia.

If you can not see that I was attempting to be helpful, that is your blindness. I could give you some rudeness if I thought it was necessary (and it would be much harsher than what you have seen), but at this point I am still clarifying the issue for you.

I understand the issue of you bringing your nonsense into another thread just fine. I can see just from this thread that you were either lacking in awareness of appropriate decorum, or that you have a childish disregard for appropriate behavior. I gave you the benefit of the doubt by addressing the issue as if it were mere rectifiable ignorance, but I now see that this is not the case.

This post of mine was a bit more rude than the previous one, but justifiably so. If your feelings are easily hurt, I suggest you do not give me reason to demonstrate what real rudeness is.
