I think the 'thank' you buttons are a great idea. I don't think so much of the stars as they only seem to increase with the number of posts. I think the stars should be scrapped.

If the stars were linked to the 'thank you' button, it would be fairer but still not perfect. But it would have an intangible side effect. I for one would find it very difficult to be negative about someone's post who I had just discovered had been sufficiently wise, kind and good as to thank me. I would be much more likely to be positive, perhaps even read it before replying.

I think it would build a more friendly community.

I’m new so can take that into consideration.
The site look nice and the navigation is easy. My biggest problem is knowing where to start. There are lots of areas and lots of really long extensive posts, it’s a little overwhelming. Maybe a newbie area that tackles some of the easier (at least to conceptualize)/smaller topics? Many of the long time posters may be bored with it but it might help stimulate new blood.

Dear Robert and friends,

May I add something to remind our members about TOE besides polling, which may be useful for improving Toe Quest?

We all knew that Toe is the supreme dreaming of mainstream physicists – the professional, in whom it was originated while we are mainly amateurs, but wants to share the dream too. So we have to keep in mind that what we should do first is try to understand (correctly) what they are thinking and find out what their weak point is.

We need not to be smarter than they do, in order to understand their way of thinking. What our advantage is that we are not the professional, so we have different view of thinking. While it seems that the mainstreamers’ weak points are that they have too much imagination and they got struck by themselves!

I suppose that main part of us is engineers, so our advantage is “engineering sense” which guides usto view the world in a more realistic way. For example, we would found that there is lack of “mechanism of the nature” in the main modern physics’ theories (EMT, STR, GTR and QMT) which were used as the main tools for finding TOE. (How could we found TOE by using incomplete tools?) Then for us who have “mechanics in our blood”, it is not so difficult to “put mechanics in physics’ theories”, isn’t it?

Sincerely,

Nimit Th.
