Let the Battle Begin (Plan B)

To reduce tension and stress in these forums I previously introduced thread prefixes so members can have more control over what types of viewpoints are welcome in their threads. I also threatened to go with plan B if the thread prefixes didn't workout. Well, I was so excited about plan B that I have decided to put it in place immediately...

PLAN B

Ok, here it is... Plan B is a series of games that members can play and compete with each other. Remember back in school when you were a kid? When you got into an argument with another kid, one of you would say, "You wanna fight?". Then the other would agree and you guys would meet "at the bridge" after school and duke it out. Well, maybe that was only me. Anyway, the point is, when you feel yourself strongly disagreeing with another member, instead of flaming and insulting each other in the thread, go battle in the arcade. This way one of you wins and the other looses while everyone is standing around watching. And the looser can always come back another day for a re-match.

Plus, this may keep members around longer so you can chat or whatever.

I've got it set up and ready to go, so let the battles begin!

Plan C

Dear Robert,
I thought I should send you a note to express my genuine appreciation for this forum of your creation. I also wish to address the nature of this forum's continued health and success.

I believe strongly that your TOE Quest Forum is the tool that can change the world by unification or the truth of everything. A truth of nature so powerfull it will set us free.
That you have concerns of factions and such, I concur.

That said, how do we argue our differences, but at the same time stay united in our quest? The answer is to know that to know the truth of science or measure is found only by the process of challange. That we must agree to disagree, and know also that in that exercise will come the strength and power of truth. If the members of this profound group can respect the other members different opinions equally to their own, we will succeed. Respect of others is most important of all.

If on the other hand any member goes beyond this healthy difference, into unhealthy disrespect, I suggest passivity or even kindness the best response. For those that go there need the most help. As we all know two wrongs do not make a right, but rather it is only right that we will find what we are looking for, Truth or TOE..

Lets get it on, lets do it right!!!

There are already enough games being played in the forums. What you are suggesting is the same as saying the one who screams the loudest and longest is right. An idiot wining a game does not make him anymore right or any smarter. The games would only be valid in forums that ignore facts; you may as well take a vote to decide what is fact or what is real.

While most of us seem content to go along with your novel ideas,and good suggestions,
it would seem that others here on the forum think very differently,however Robert,i am sure that you will go with the majority,and ignore those minority views.

Games are an excellent way of defusing tension,and allowing a healthy dispertion of
otherwise angry outbursts.


I have already had a go,but need to hone my somewhat limited gaming skills.

MJA - Thanks for your input and support. I agree that ideas must be challenged to get to the truth. Ideally, we can consider others ideas and viewpoints but agree to disagree when those ideas cannot be reconciled. When disrespect is shown it's natural to want to respond with the same. I have found that when you focus on a larger goal, or quest in our case, it is easier to let the smaller pettiness slide by. Otherwise, we get caught up in distractions and lose focus on the larger goal. So perhaps passivity or kindness may be the best response.

But sometimes I just get really mad and want to destroy more asteroids than Dave.

Yes even us girls had our "cat fights"...I never had long nails which was a definite disadvantage!
