    Re: The Land of TOE Fungus

    Just about every movie that's come out of the Hollywood for at least 25 years seems to include the expression in it's dialogue. I think that's had a lot to do with the word's enculturation. My experience of a diverse cross-section of society is that the term is widely used.

    In addition, many may soon benefit from a up-close and personal experience of so-called "low" society, for their "security blankets" are becoming thread-bare...

    I think at the TOE all people should be respected and certainly not labelled as from "low society"

    As I said, they are not here at Toe; we are just saying that it has become a custom of saying F before every noun that would seem to identify a lower existence of society. High society has it stigmas, too, that serve to identify them

    Graybeard is joking; he's not really like this (I don't think).

The problem is we live in a day when people have stopped caring about whether they govern themselves or not. In the past few months, I have left this forum on two different occasions with the intention of not coming back. Were it not for the work I have done here, and in which I feel invested, I would not have returned.

    The reason I'm here is because Physics Forums is too restrictive. The reason I'll be likely to leave is because TOEQUEST is not restrictive enough. Just use an iron hand, Robert. If a user can't use discretion and good manners (as they agree to when they join the TOEQUEST), ban them permanently. If those who come here don't have honor enough to keep the promises they make when they join, they probably don't have the discipline to help us find our way to the TOE.
    It always saddens me to hear stories such as this. Let me take Wick's post as an opportunity to apologize to you guys for being less involved with the website in recent months. Due to the obscene hours on my day job I have been letting the forum slide and only doing the minimal work of paying the bills, banning spammers, backing up the database, responding to PMs and enjoying the occasional drink in the Many-Worlds Pub. I have so many website projects that are undone or half done with no time to finish. The website keeps me sane and provides an outlet for my twisted sense of humor, so not being able to upgrade and provide those new features and upgrades is tremendously upsetting to me.

    I am happy to say that my day job project has come to a successful end after months of continuous work that included days, evenings, weekends, holidays and climaxing with a grand finale last Saturday with my first 30 hour work day. I have more time now and will be recruiting others to help out so I can bring those other projects on-line. I'll be following up with some members on helping out with the website, and I intend to post some job openings shortly for those who are interested and have the right skills. Unfortunately the jobs don't pay well, but they might be fun. I'll have more on this in a future thread.

    So, to Wick and all who feel likewise, all I can say is hang in there. The website will have a completely different look by Jan 15th, with work starting immediately. Send me a PM if you see problems, have suggestions, or if something rubs you the wrong way. I'll try my best to be accommodating where possible. I enjoy receiving PMs; not to busy to hear from you.

    So again, apologies to all and I expect to make up for lost time in the coming months.

    I was not saying those labelled in our society are at the TOE...I meant "we" all of us as Toe members should be setting an example to become a better society, without labels...without careless degrading stigmas and terms such as "low society" to identify people...

    Thank you, Robert.

    This is not your fault, it is ours. A man I very much respect taught, "Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves." I believe in this doctrine with all my heart. If we are ungovernable it is our own fault.

    Thanks again for all you do. And congratulations on the completion of your project. I'll stick around to see what you're up to. Your post has made me wish to stay.

    Best Regards!!

    Re: The Land of TOE Fungus

    Hi Wick;
    I’ve been with ToeQuest almost four years now and like you, have been tempted to leave many times. I was taught the same principles you were by a man I admired a great deal; I called him Dad. Not everyone has had such good fortune to have such guidance and it is up to us to give it back whenever we can. Don’t give up on the ToeQuest family so soon; we are defiantly diversified but we are all loveable; ain’t that right, leskey?

    Hi leskey;
    I love your little digs; would you like to be a moderator? I would be happy to recommend you for my old position. We could really use the woman’s touch to keep the boys in line.

    Hi Greg;
    All my friends are in low places, where the whisky flows, and the beer chases, my blues away, and that’s OK.

    Hi Robert;
    You still have the number 1 site in my opinion and it's nice to hear you’re going to make it even better.

    In order to believe you are right you must believe everyone else is wrong. as RD said, you must start at a point where you have no doubt,that is the nature of the TOE beast. some are just a little more verbally passionate than others. "truth is a fate which awaits us all". peace

    Hi, Dave.

    LOL! The things some people will put up with so they can be a part of something intelligent, huh?

    Thanks for thinking of me...doubt "the boys" would agree.
