Weekly Goal: Update all website components

My primary objective this week is to update all the components that make up the website. There is nothing that is far out of date so the noticeable changes should be few. There may be some periodic down-time that should not last more than 5-15 minutes at a time. There might be some glitches so, if you notice any, report here or send me a PM. I'll try and list some of the more interesting features or bug fixes in this thread as the week progresses. Future updates will be listed in the Calendar but it seems the calendar has a bug preventing it from going past 2006 so I couldn't do that this time. The update should fix it.

    Regards,

Re: Weekly Goal: Update all website components

I'll be starting this afternoon (about 4 hours from the time of this post) with an upgrade of the forum, blogs, and home page software to their very latest versions. The downtime should be less than 30 minutes. You will notice some changes to the color scheme but the basic layout will remain the same. Many bugs have been fixed and I'll point out some of the more significant fixes once the upgrade is complete.

Time is relative to the observer, lol.....

    When in Rome.....

30 minutes is also of longer duration in Robert's time zone, but it's all good, and we humans have a tendency to over-estimate our potential and under-estimate the time required. (There's actually research and documentation on this sort of thing, and fools like me who read it. )

    An Update:

I've updated the forum, blogs, home page, and various forum add-on features and administrative tools. I've updated the link manager and image gallery and added links to them in the main navbar. I also added a couple of new styles that I'm testing out. You can selet them on the lower left corner of any page. I like the 'Black & Gray' style the best. I need to correct the contrast in a few areas so the text is easier to read.

I'll also be bringing back an updated version of the Chat Room including the ever-present Carly who will graciously visit with you until other members arrive.

    Hello Robert,

The window on the right side of the home page that normally updates current posts appears not to be performing that function since the recent updates, FYI.

Hi LW. Thanks for reporting the potential problem. Although I have the power to cache the data for a specified number of minutes, that feature is not presently enabled, so any new data should be available immediately. The page does need to be refreshed before any new data appears. Could that be the problem? Let me know if you continue to see a problem and I'll look into it further.

    Regards,
