To improve the quality of the ToeQuest posts I have added a spell checker. This should be especially useful since many of our members speak English as a second language. The spell checker appears to be very good, but post any problems you encounter to this thread. I've listed some of the features of the spell checker below:
- Supports most recent versions of browsers such as IE, Firefox, Mozilla/Netscape, Opera and Konqueror.
- Skips quoted text.
- Has links to a Merriam Webster's online thesaurus and dictionary website.
- Has a learn feature to learn new words.
How do I use it?
Whenever you see an edit box--editing post, replying to post, quick reply, starting new thread--you will see below it a button named "Spell Check". Simply click this button when you want to check your spelling. A popup window will appear (be sure and disable popups for the www.toequest.com) showing you your text with spelling options below it. When you are finished, click done and you are returned to your original edit box with the mis-spelled words corrected. You may edit your post further or submit it.
If your document contains no mis-spelled words, you may see the popup open briefly and thein close. That is normal operation.
I urge all to use this new feature. It is very easy to use, gives your posts a more professional appearance, and should help others to understand the idea you are trying to convey.
Regards,
