Forum Posting Guidelines - 08-16-2005, 12:05 AM

The ToeQuest forums have steadily grown over the last 2 years and are about to really take off. I thank you all for being a part of this growing quest.

In order to give the forums a more professional look, to keep the forums running well, increase the utility of the forums, and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules when posting to the forums. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or one of the moderators (coming soon).

Posting Guidelines
  1. Keep your posts professional and respectful. Rudeness, personal attacks, and inflammatory posts will not be tolerated.
  2. Refrain from short meaningless posts, or posts that are not very well thought out.
  3. Run the spell check before posting. This gives your posts a more professional look and helps to convey your ideas to the reader.
  4. Avoid posting the same post to multiple forums.
  5. Do not cut and past your posts from a word document or any other document that may have embedded html. This generally results in an ugly post that few will read.
  6. Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.
  7. You may link to your website, once in your signature or post. Links from your post should be related to the Theory of Everything.
  8. Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed. If you have other accounts due to registration problems, e.g., please let me know and I will remove your inactive accounts.
  9. Your posts should not be article length. The postings to a thread should be conversational in style. Excessively long posts ruin the flow of a thread and turn people off. The TOE Articles section of the forums are reserved for article length posts and may be referred to from you TOE forum posting.
  10. Political discussions are not allowed. This is a big community breaker and not related to the Theory of Everything.
  11. Do not preach. Religious discussions are acceptable if scientifically based, but preaching is strictly prohibited.
That's all I can think of for now.

Regards,
--Robert

Wish you wouldn't ask people not to post article length. Sometimes the subject matter requires an indepth treatment. I envy those who have the time and subject matter that fill up to article length. We recognize the time and place for article length.

And I agree with you completely. That is why I prepared a special place for those article length posts and its available to all members. That is the Articles section of the library. It is there that articles can be posted with summaries, multiple pages, pictures, etc. and it is completely integrated with the website. A forum thread should contain a smooth flow of conversation centered around a topic of interest. An exceptionally long post will disrupt that flow. With the articles section, the member can post a summary of an article with a link to the full length article.
