Again, misinterpretation. have you read anything about nihilism, anything written by Nietzsche? People have misinterpretation his terminology, but philosophers no. A philologist will tell you nihilism means believing in nothing, but NO! Philologists have no idea in this (and in fact Nietzsche himself studied philology, never philosophy). Philosophers know that that nihilism is the believe that no-thing has no value as idol for all-things can be idols. That we can believe in EVERYTHING. You cannot know your opinion is true, in fact we cannot know anything is true. And philosophy is not trying to prove you'r right, that's a complete misconception. Philosophy is understanding nature, not inventing a theory we believe in and then make reality match it, the other way round: observe reality, analyze it, and create your theory from this.

Cool I don't do dogma! - 02-24-2006, 02:26 PM

Well, Guille, I was being a little tongue in cheek about my definition of philosophy! I have read Thus Spoke Z by Nietzsche. It didn't impress me as true, more dogmatic than anything else. I think that you are speaking of knowing by mind. (if we can't know anything is true, how can we know your statement is true?) I speak of knowing by spirit. That is how I know my beliefs are true. I can, however, accept that I may be wrong.

Isn't truth also relative. Lets say actually now the time is around 8:30 but i say itis 12:30. It is true to me. So doesn't it come down to whether time is true. We all obey it just out of habit. We decide the truth out of instincts. So it is nothing that decide our world except our instincts-Which come out of nothing.

Let's see about that I will come and i don't care if i go hungry but u should make food out of nothing. Well let's consider it. Who am I? body and mind? what is body then? a mass of muscles working tirelessly through the night? what made these muscles? tissues. what are tissues? group of cells? and they are of dna? complex molecules-atoms-hadrons and all those things. What are they made of then can you tell me then Michael. I would like to see you try and explain what is the basic. Can you then. Or is it god? What the hell is god then. I will tell you God is just our beliefs. Jesus believed in himself-we worship him. U believe yourself 100% Michael I will worship you. Then when you are god you can't send me Hungry. Why-you will understand when you become god. It is reflecting in your own words that you know everything. Do you- i doubt it my fellow human being. You must first believe you are nothing Michael. Then only will you have have the time to digest and assimilate the ideas that will make you a good philosopher. I just hope you will recieve this. If you don't it will show your ego that i am school boy just trying to make it big. I wish you good luck.

Kindest regards,
yours friendliest,

What is mind isn't it just instincts. Or thought as you may say. Or do you believe it is millions of neurons. then the same above holds good.
Thanks,
Kindest regards,
Michael-(sorry slip of the hand or my thoughts)
Mohan.

Mohan.C. What you say is very interesting!Your ideas and thoughts will lead you far in this world of illusion! My ego is deflated daily,or
else,i might think that i am God?Then i would have to join the patients on the
ward where I work,in a mental illness hospital? One last thing Mohan,I do not
believe that I am no-thing,I know that I am no-thing?????
kind regards michael.

Speaking of eating no-thing, a friend of mine (a Bhuddist) believes that breathing is just a habit. Fasting is a widely held religious practice in the East. Maybe the things we think are 'necessary' to live, aren't...

Well guys, Vivekananda's Master it is said "experienced" god. After that particular incident he would always be happy. in a kind of trance. He offered puja to himself !! it is all in the power of meditation. Always he used to meditate on the picture of god Durga. But then once he met a sage who told him to meditate on nothing. This was trouble. It is said all efforts of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa to concentrate on nothingness went in vain. As always he had the picture of the goddess blocking his view. Finally he succeeded and he was never the same. I don't understand this much so I am going to ask one of the swamiji about it. I know him personally and I am sure i will return with interesting answers.

Michael isn't food also made from nothing. When you cook u take a empty bowl and then add things. It is not the other way round. U don't take a filled bowl. well, You must fill it to fill it isn't it!!
