Interesting, many a time have I pondered the feeling of 'non-existance' an uncany calm!
However, the thought of my atoms slowly being dispersed into the earth to breath life elsewhere is fine my me![]()

mlangley,
heaven its not like you think it would be, as the bible explains it, its just happyness, i think of it as a place were you can have all the perfect dreams you want forever, you could be harry potter, a middle age king, a rich and powerfull guy, WHATEVER you like, i also think, you can choose reencarnation, if that makes you HAPPY, the only concept that freaks me thinking about its eternity, but well, everything would be explained to us when we die,
have faith,
alex
supposuly, you reencarnate in diferent thigs depending on how your live was, good_human
bad_rat
thats what chinese think
i think
but im catholic!
impossible... no... no my friend, it just hasnt been discovered!
In the spirit of symmetry in all things, I propose the afterlife to be the same as the beforelife.
Not quite, there is nothing before life, but an eternal soup of memory, genetics, atoms, genes, inpact plus much more! (In my opinion)in the afterlife.
Still, an interesting comment Mr nobody.
I completely agree with this statement. I once had a theory that John Edwards (guy on tv who talks to ghosts) was actually more of a psychic and able to pick up brain waves of audience members in order to be able to access their memories and thoughts.Originally Posted by kennap
As for the importance of belief, I think it all boils down to survival, one of the obvious key components and goals of life. In the broad view of things, believing in something instead of nothing makes the majority of life happy and capable of enduring hardships, helping to ensure survival. Belief in religion is something that helps describe the "goods" and "bads" in life and tries to keep us on the good and loving side of things, i.e. not killing people, which is just an aspect of ensuring survival.
if your soul was a closed loop string, and if your soul and consciousness were the same thing
then m theory would say that your soul wouldn't be confined to the membrane which our universe exists in
that is a basis for reincarnation
The afterlife, aka post mortem.
For every action, there is reaction. I want to propose that there is at least one final action after death, I mean after life. Here we see that life and death are interchangeable.
after death = after life = post mortem
After death refers to the corpse while after life refers to some spirit we may or may not have. We cease to observe light. Big deal, so does a living blind man.
One by one, imagine being stripped of your senses. You lose your sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. You're still hungry and horny. Sorry, but it's true.
What is the plus of another life? Why aren't we all the same? We all lead different lives in a common body? I propose that we will all lead different deaths in a common corpse. Post person we shall be. Put it this way, you will finally get to interact with a dinosaur.

Right on the money. All of corporeality will eventually return to nature, whatever stage in the process of evolution nature finds itself.I propose that we will all lead different deaths in a common corpse.
However..! The fact is that a virtually infinite amount of information can be stored on a single electron. The energy that represents our identities are only a part of that information. They represent the limit that we impose on the conscious and subconscious self so that we can superimpose a niche for ourselves in that realm where dwell the spirits who have already made a claim to immortality. It's a tough realm. Worm food or immortality? Free will determines our choice.
