Ghosts are a very common occurrence. The spirit or soul is found in many religious beliefs, and even though many accounts can be discredited some remain very disconcerting. Do you believe in ghosts, and if you do what does that say about the nature of real, or alive? If the people from the past are still acting out years after their death, what does that say about time? Are we the ones living in the past, or are we all living at the same time?
Here are some things do in the ghost thread.
- First off, Do you believe in ghosts, yes or no? Specify why.
- Share your personal or non-personal ghost stories.
- Discuss the philosophical or scientific implications of ghosts.
- Share ghost evidence you've seen or heard.
Here is some information on ghosts, hopefully they will be good inducers of ghost-like discussion.
1. Ghost Evidence All evidence is from Youtube.com, don't be afraid to click on them!
- Audio Evidence Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are pretty much recorded ghost sounds. They vary from voices, to screams, breathing, humming, singing, foot steps, and much more. I would like to be able to search for these better, but I can only supply what I've heard in the past.
- The trailer for the movie White Noise. The voices at the beginning are recorded EVPs. LINK
A lot of the time there will be an 'investigator' asking questions to a spirit and be irritated when they don't hear anything. And it is only later when they review the recordings that they find out that someone was talking back to them. Imagine if you accidentally left a recorder on, and when you come back you realize that there is some poor child screaming, or a man begging for his life. Thing is, no one was ever near the recorder!
If you post more audio evidence, please include a transcript of what is said for the hearing impaired!
- Video Evidence
Here is a clip of a cheesy show called Ghost Hunters. I remember this episode and thought the video was odd, it is not very credible but it is nifty none the less! LINK

2. Ghost Philosophy
Here are some questions to ask yourself. You don't have to answer them but feel free to, or add more!
- What distinguishes the past from the future?
- How can beings remain intelligent without a brain and how do they interact with the future?
- Can some ghosts haunt the past, could we be haunting someone in the past?
- What does intelligent energy say about the makeup of the world?
- Some spirits respond to questions as if they do not know we are here. Could we all be living at the same time?
I hope you can all find some fun in sharing your views on this subject. As for myself I'll write my views after this. I love reading ghost stories so plop those in if you have any! I hope you enjoy the Ghost thread!
Yeah I would say that I don't believe in ghosts. I would have to see something to believe it, even then I'd probably have doubts. If you accepted all of the stories as truth it would say a lot of odd things about the world.

- Share your personal or non-personal ghost stories.On a trip to Florida(~ 10 years ago) I took with a couple of girls ( 18 and 19 ), we stopped and stayed at an old warehouse (pre civil war), that was converted to apartment type lodgings in Savannah Georgia. It was located on Factors Walk, a very old cobbled stone street, in the city. Across from the warehouse was an old but still operating Inn, that Robert Louis Stevenson would drink at while writing Treasure Island. That night the girls said they thought there was somebody else there with us. Being the skeptic I am I pooh pooh it. The next morning I took a picture of the girls by a stairway in the apartment. When the film was developed, along with a pictures of the girls was an apparition of what looked like a face of a man. ??????
- Discuss the philosophical or scientific implications of ghosts.If ghost do exist they would be in another dimension, like a neutrino able to pass through anything, and like a neutrino would have little to no interaction with our 3 dimensional reality.
- Share ghost evidence you've seen or heard.None except as noted above.

I would have to say that the most frightening things among us reside within our own minds. I am much more afraid of what's in there and what my own misguided thoughts can do to me than I am anything else.
Perhaps, those that see such things as ghost project/imagine them themselves due to their preconceived notions and fears. The mind is a powerful tool; especially when it is at work on the wrong stuff.
So, do I believe in ghosts? I believe we can imagine anything, but I'm not afraid of the ghosts imagined by others; I'm afraid of those which can be imagined by me, but only if I allow them.
To quote Ray Stevens (parody/novelty singer-songwriter) from the song, I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more: "The dead can't hurt ya cause they already left, but what they left can sure make you hurt yourself."
Great thread starter K.I have been involved in paranormal (phychic) phenomena for the past 35 years.Have been involved with mediumship,seances,(or as there called in the UK
circles)and have lots of communication with those who have "died""they" are very much alive thank you!
I will share one instance of communication that actually saved a womans life!This happened early on in the beginning of my involvement with spiritual/psychic things,
about 32 years ago I was on my way to visit my new girlfriend at her flat (apartment)
I had been there many times before,however this particular day I "suddenly" forgot where she lived!I was on my way there,it was about 1 mile away from where I was currently living at,I stopped on the pavement and my mind had gone completly blank,I could not remember where she lived,or how to get there,I felt really stupid and somewhat
concerned about this sudden memory lapse,looking around me I noticed a house across
the road,I remembered that a lady I had met a couple of times before at a Spiritualist
church lived there,suddenly a bright idea "struck me,she knew my girlfriend,"prehaps
I could call on her and ask for directions!Feeling rather stupid I crossed the road to her house and knocked the door,no answer,i was about to walk away,when an inner voice
said to me "go round the back of the house and knock again"This i did,when i got there I
could see through the window into the kitchen,on the table were bottles of tablets,there were pills all over the table,I started banging very loudly on the door,the lady appeared
and let me in,she said that she was in the process of commiting suicide as i rang her front door bell,but had not yet taken any tablets!Had i not had this very convenient lapse of
"Memory" she would have died that day,I know this happened for a purpose,we talked for a while ,rang my girlfriend who came over,the lady cried a lot,but decided that her life was now worth keeping.
She went on to live a rich and full life as best i know.

Since you believe in reincarnation I guess the "Ghosts" would be occupying our bodies. My two favorites are oblivion or reincarnation. I guess if there is a heaven/hell/purgatory that's where the ghost would go. If there is none of the above, that might allow for free spirits to float around.
I guess as long as you don’t pose a danger to yourself or others you are allowed to roam free among the sane of the world. That’s why we don’t have people who actually here god talk to them anymore; we have pills that cure that illness. Would you like more medication Michael?
