Thanks for the reply and the question Nobody, first thing is that I see the mind as being independant of the body as we are now in physical form, the brain is a physical representation of the mind, and they are magnetically linked via the solar plexes and
crown chakra,

Consciousness resides within the life force (spirit/soul/it "carries" the individualised being
who has mindfullness, and further suppies the vechicles of expression (bodies) that it needs to express itself on the physical, mental, phychic, spiritual planes of existance.

Astral travel is a natural involuntary phenomenon that occurs whilst we slumber, perfectly
in line with natural law,and the evoulutionary arc thar we are all on,however, with meditation and practise, this can be done when one is wide awake and conscious, you
can then quite literally "be in two minds"?

Consciousness remains at all levels, however the influence of the ego is somewhat
lessened as we progress spiritually.

regards michael.

So space and inorganic matter is not conscious then. It takes an organic system or "life force" for consciousness to manifest, correct?

Yes and no,Nobody, space and matter have consciouness, but are not self aware conscious,
I see the entire physical universe as all totally alive,(as each atom is)however "they" are
not self -aware and self conscious as we our!

A stone is alive in a state of (profound lethagy)it is consciouness, but knows it not!

I can agree to a universal functioning based on an infinitely complex shared system of information, much like our own systems that would give rise to consciousness.

Yet if a rock is not conscious of it being conscious, can't we classify that as being not conscious. Or are you referring to a reactive-type subconsciousness, like the subconscious process of a growing fingernail?

That is an interesting way of describing the process, yes a sort of subconsciousness.
