I wander off for a snappy 12 km gaunt with an intelligent companion and come back to.........

a FASCINATING EXCHANGE.

On more than one thread.

Such have I observed for over a year now.

Who, when and where, the interventions arise from,

must be intriguing for the silent majority who can be observed to monitor the forum but choose not to participate.

I have one question.

When people have a different perspective, why must they either feel abused or ignored?

It is the human condition, which we must somehow find a way to move beyond......

I am sorry for my part in it ... and actually, neither Lloyd nor I are hurt by each others epithets, and we are both long haul members .... however I do see that it is not professional, and that many others are viewing.

But sometimes intangible benefits and new ways of looking at things can arise from heated exchanges ... this should be considered. Sometimes politeness is restrictive.

(I have always thought we should have a special 'bare knuckle forum' ... where you enter at your own risk, and anything goes. I believe it would liven the forum, and possibly, produce something closer to the TOE than we have managed so far ??)

Name calling and vituperation are forms of abuse and ignoring is well, ignoring...

Who says people feel abused or ignored? Is that not an assumption when we cannot see one another? I agree with Greg..bare knuckle forum..not offensiveness but surely the right to say it like it is...thats honesty and you know what they say...honesty is the best policy...

There already is one.

It's called the Pub and one is expected to write in the second, (or third, lol....) person, so that there is separation from the concepts being presented. Buy me a drink before I engage you in debate, and I shall do likewise.

The sacrificial offerings before we start sacrificing male egos, lol, as we only need a few for breeders.

By all means delete this if anyone finds it offensive, Sugarbear, if that's your new handle.......

Robert the only moderator and we know that:

a) Robert enjoys lively debate.
b) Written not from the first person, none of the story should be taken personally.....unless the shoe fits......
c) Robert is often away for extended periods.

For professional reasons, I have endeavored to be professional.

I suggest that in such forum, we all be allowed to add a new web name, that we not embarrass our employers or colleagues by our stating the 'bare truth'.

If you believe this then please PM me a sample of where you believe this has happened. I can only say that the mods (and we do hold discussions) including me ... are Laissez faire ... and I do not believe that i have shown preferential treatment to anyone ..... not even myself ??
