    Just a thought......
Well, i work as a toilet cleaner at the present moment, and earn shit money, i used to work on a farm cleaning pig pens, then i was up to my eyes balls in poopy nappies when i had kids,
and you know what they say, where there's shit there's brass ...

As for buying into capitalism,......ney lassie, ain't having none of that action....i go around in rags most of the time, my hair is long and unkempt, i live on very little food, i don't watch tv, it's so mind blowingly boring boring and an insult to my intelligence, and the news is just so depressing, i feel like committing suicide just watching it, i hate shopping, my kids were allowed to play with knifes, and stay up till 3am every night...i could go on, but don't wanna bore you with the details.

By the way......my kids are now living very balanced and stable successful lives of their own ... apart from the youngest one who's 14 and is still in my care, he's allowed to play violent video games all day and night on his computer and x box and he's the sweetest human being alive who calls me by my first name, and says i have a beautiful soul...i mean, what would he know about a soul? ...not that it surprises me.

So, back to money, all the money i've earned in my life slave labouring away for capitalism, so that the rich get richer, and the poorer get poorer, has been stored away under my mattress, my modern day version of a mattress is a bank....

Anything else you would like to know?

Re: Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?

Talk about synchrony, this happens all the time to me btw,......lol

    Right on time....>

THE TRUTH VIBRATIONS… WILL END THE CONTROL SYSTEM

...Everything looks very different once you are touched by the Truth Vibrations. I can see so clearly today those attuning to the new energetic resonance and those who are still welded to the old. This is the parting of the ways, the fork in the road, that I talk about.

One enormous irony in all this is that I know people who are completely controlled by the old vibration - the Control System vibration - while talking endlessly about 'love and light', 'I love everyone' and 'people must wake up'.

They think they are awakening (no, awakened) to the new vibration when they are expressions of the dying embers of the old that will play out to its conclusion in the next few years. I see people talking about love while being totally devious and self-serving; they talk about giving and loving everyone when me, me, me is the only show in town.

The Truth Vibrations are not a talking, they are a being, a doing. Condemning the system and then using it for your own ends whenever it suits you is not the Truth Vibrations - it is that which they are sweeping away. The Truth Vibrations are bringing to the surface all that has been hidden and so the fake self-identities that hide behind 'love and light' and other personality fronts while serving the Control System will find that their masks will suddenly lift ...

... We are in for so many shocks and surprises in the next few years as we see people who project a fake image for what they really are. This includes, indeed most especially includes, the reptilian-human hybrid bloodline families behind the Control System

Re: Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?

Thank you Melanie, for sharing those details with me. I have a friend from Europe who told me that she made her money doing jobs that others did not care to, and cleaning public toilets was exactly what she worked at. The pay was decent, and considerably more than most others jobs were offering. The main thing I gathered from her, and others with whom I have visited over the years, is the difference in the choices that people make regarding how much they buy into the system.

The folks who do well with the money system, all seem to be very physically or mentally 'work-oriented', work-a-holics to some, and which I most definitely am not. I like to work hard and also to play hard, and would be happy to have a bit more play time than at present, but circumstances dictate the terms, or so it ever seems.

The one advantage of the more remote and sparsely populated region in which I live, is that a considerable number of people do live in smaller communities or out on the land in cabins and live from their skills, gardening, hunting, fishing, bartering, doing some odd jobs or seasonal work etc. There is great diversity in the occupations of the people of the Yukon, and not everyone is a 'wage-slave'. I ran my own business for twenty years, and for the last ten years, it was my sole source of income. Prior to that either my partner or I had other work to assist with building a home and the business. Sweat equity and blisters, I am familiar with, lol....It was very satisfying to work for oneself and it is only in the last 5 years that I returned to the retail trade.

After being at the whim of the weather and my clientele on how much much of an income I could generate from hay sales, riding lessons, horse-boarding, and the sale of related goods and fresh farm eggs, I have a new appreciation for just showing up as scheduled, and doing my job. No matter the weather outdoors, it is always a comfortable temperature in my workplace and payday is regular and predictable.

I have clothes that are older than your youngest living at home, Mel, although I have expanded a bit for my office job two mornings a week, the four nights don't require anything fancy, although good footwear with safety soles are a must because I am on my feet all night, walking the aisles in the course of my duty. Two 15 minute coffee breaks, no lunch break, by choice, so that one gets off 1/2 hr earlier and has that bit of extra time at home doing the things they really enjoy, which for me, is horses, gardening, reading, inter-net research and in the last 14 months, this forum.

You say you don't eat much food, but you obviously do eat......where do you get most of your food from? Do you prepare most of your meals from scratch? Working in the food industry has really given me a lot to think about as to what actually is 'food'. I do believe we could restructure a lot by eliminating a large percentage of what's in the average supermarket, but that choice must come from the people waking up to an understanding of the relationship between what they eat and their health. By their shopping choices, people have far more power than they may know, as the competitive market responds to these pressures.

I am sure that we are going to see a great deal of change in the near future and no predictions on which way the wind is going to blow. Once again, thanks for giving me some things to ponder. Time to shut down now, as I have to get some sleep before night shift also.

    Regards,

Re: Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?

This is a video of Atlin, B.C., a small northern town of 350 people where I spent my teenage years. The video was made by a young fellow whom I babysat when he was but a child. His mother was the person who inspired me to learn to work with sled dogs and gave me some employment in cleaning the large old courthouse building in which she and her family and canine companions resided.

And yes, I too, have cleaned up a lot of 'doogy-do', babies 'nappies', 'road apples' and muck of all sorts along the way also....

Some good music to go with the photos, many of them historical shots.

Like your style, Mel! I have similar aspirations...and it's achievable, too...just gotta have the right 'values.'

Our life stories aren't who we are, they're the route in time that brought us to this present moment. Every translation of the circumstances encountered determines what we truly know...our own history, each and every individual journey is the true source of knowledge...each is unique and valuable.

Afterall, what is it we do to aid memory? Hear it, see it, write it, apply mnemonics to it...In life, of course, the mnemonics are: smell it, taste it, physically feel it, emotively sense it, evaluate it, live with the consequences of what you do with it...
But nothing's lost. Or else: all is translation And every bit of us is lost in it... - James Merrill

Re: Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?

I’ve spent the past few weeks considering capitalism, democracy, the republic and socialism. It seems to be natural of humans to expect only the strong survive. This means that if you don’t work for it then you don’t deserve it. Evolution has taught us if we let this instinct go to the way side then people will become less dependable in stressful situations.

As individuals we can only predict or account for the actions of a few people. In the same point we might not fully agree with the actions of some one close but because they are close we tolerate them. That and we just don’t have the time to attend to or keep up with every ones actions. Because of this most will draw lines socially.

Yet the intellect treats every one the same. An intellect understands that differences don’t cause problems a situation does. Capitalism favors the prepared and also those who are in the right place at the right time. An intellectual may assume the easiest solution to a problem with a shortage of opportunism is to divide the wealth of an opportunity, making every one the winner.

It is our instinct to reduce stress. If all where to vote, in a democracy all votes would lead to is stagnation. Sure some people have aspirations but with out cooperation it is hard to get things accomplished. Because of this “smart” people created the republic to prevent the eventual stagnation of a democracy. Remember that if every one had a vote they would all vote to get something for nothing and so end up a Socialistic or a Communistic government and then hence become stagnant.

The hard truth is that nothing is for free. We all have to pay at some point. Whether through wars or loss, mortgages or loans, or even the tears and sweat from our brows. Is it fair that some at the top abuse their rights and repress the have-nots? No but then what is fair, nothing it’s a cycle. You can only hold down so many people for so long before it’s all over.

    THE KNOWING

“Into this Universe, and why, not knowing,
Nor whence, like water willy-nilly flowing:
And out of it, as wind along the waste,”
Omar “knew not whither, willy-nilly blowing…”

Now I’m knowing, that out of this muddle,
Indeed, it’s the chaos that frees me to be,
For, it’s all of disorder in disarray,
    An ultimate disorganized confusion,
Whence all sprung, banged, and exploded,
    With no hint or trace of order, law or plan;

    ‘Twas mayhem, bedlam, and pandemonium,
Wreaking havoc upon the turmoil of a tumult,
Heaping high upon, a commotion of disruption,
In the utter fullness of the uproaring upheaval…

…The maelstrom to end all messes and shambles,
The lawless free-for-all of total energetic anarchy,
Entropy crowned as King of the great hullabaloo,
That cosmic hoopla from which all hell broke loose.

Never there was to punish one for not even knowing
Why you are here in this world so much growing,
That became here all so willy-nilly going.
So, as life’s rose, outspread your fragrance blowing!

Whither flowing free, whether knowing, or not,
Hitherto, I know not whence, but am whither going,
Willy-nilly, hence that’s all there is to knowing…
Hence thither forth I go on hither flowing to find
That I was ever more free to be in body and mind.

It is of Ovid’s “rude and indigested mass:
The lifeless lump, unfashion'd, and unfram'd,
Of jarring seeds; and justly Chaos nam’d.

    “No sun was lighted up, the world to view;
No moon did yet her blunted horns renew:
Nor yet was Earth suspended in the sky,
Nor pois’d, did on her own foundations lye:

    “Nor seas about the shores their arms had thrown;
But earth, and air, and water, were in one.
Thus air was void of light, and earth unstable,
    And water's dark abyss unnavigable.”

So it is that we the living might hereby agree,
To live a being that is much more intense,
To leap toward higher orders of actuality,
To revel in the glories of this conscious life,
To attain each minute a more euphoric joy…

And to bring this radiance forth to all,
The increased intensity of free experience,
And to build on it, etc.,
    Ever growing;
    Forever, amen!

Re: Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?

THE GLORY, OR NOT, OF LIFE

Even if some squander their existence,
It is still on offer for the remainder—
Ever those who advance the human race,
Albeit it still in its childhood.

    Those who are evil
    May have either been
    Brainwashed by dogma
    Or have various mental defects
    Beyond their control,
For brains are far from perfect.

    The central nervous system
    Still sends out
    Thousands-of-years-old messages,
    Such as flight or fight;
    For, our existence,
    In these more modern times,
    Has been that
    Of a mere evolutionary instant.

    Too little serotonin,
    Due to genetics, wrong food,
    Or lack of exercise
    Places the older,
    More primitive portion
    Of the brain in control.
    People then fall for
    Their very own thoughts,
    Hook, line and sinker,
As gospel, and then behave poorly.

    Some realize this later;
Some never do, nor can they,
    For all persons
Are not created or raised equally.

    Too much dopamine
    Causes endless novelty seeking
    And risky behavior.

    A low standing heart rate
    Reduces the anxiety
That should come with criminal behavior
(Usually combined with the other two conditions).

As part and parcel of the organic world,
    We are necessarily bio-electro-chemical beings
Born of a nature that knew neither good nor bad
Except how it could go on for continued survival.

    Now we know more.

    We survived, partly,
    Because of our violent abilities,
    Not in spite of them,
    And partly,
    Through the cooperation
For that same hunt or war.

All such tendencies mix together now.

Fear can be turned inside out
    (Of public speaking, say)
    Into the excitement of the event;
The beast in us can lead to a zest for life.

    Certainly, though, drug users, drinkers,
Gamblers, sports nuts, grouches, war mongers,
Quarrelers, users, and all those bad types
    Eventually come to ruin—
Some even to regret and/or change.

We could say that they should know better,
    That they ought to have, that they can;
But, the disproof of this wishful thinking
Is that so many don’t, won’t, and can’t.

    Learning the bad stuff
    Can be a dangerous thing,
For learning actually rewires the brain,
    Grooving it.

Many never forget how to ride a bike,
Or, unfortunately, how to commit a crime.

    Thoughts turn into words,
    Thence into actions,
    And finally into one’s character,
There being a whole spectrum of behavior.

Such is the price of the freedom and opportunity
That is presented by being human.
