    Re: "Mind in my Matter"

The whole universe gave rise to our general mammalian characteristics and direction, we becoming more specifically defined by our particular DNA and our unique encounters with the environment around us.

So we became as the brain’s associations and memories made our individualized selves which, normally, are consistent, but ever added to through learning and discerning.

Some, lucky enough to have that inclination, gain more choices from the wider reflections of a larger base of information.

So, you could say that the inputs to thought are received and analyzed by the brain, which then produces thought, which may give rise to action or fed back to produce further thought. So, our consciousness is never the first in the production line, it even having to wait for the brain to do its thing, but more like in the middle, if results feeds back, or the end, if they don't.

Sometimes, just a simpleton part of the brain reports something and so the final discernment has to wait for a more global analysis, or not, if someone, unluckily, is merely just reactive.

Bluntly ..... I think we produce it. That is, all thought is the product of a physical biological event. A chemical reaction ??

Thought is just an organised version of knowledge, which is the 'pure' data if you will.

I agree with LW, we generally produce thoughts which then goes on to measure other thoughts in respect to it. Although I must admit that much of our education is/was achieved through passive learning, which is not healthy nor effective.

Working night shift may have a deleterious effect on my biology, so some of this data may be corrupted, LOL

    Re: "Mind in my Matter"

Labelwench, that's not messing with my mind, that's downright hilarious! And how true too. I have to have my Java in me like most others I'm sure! Now which came first the piglet or the sow? Isn't it curious Labelwench, that most would immediately say the sow to bear the piglet. My question now is if people are so sure the sow would have to come first, then why the long drawn out discussion about chicken or the egg? Thanks, Labelwench you are a very entertaining writer, I've read a bunch of your responses. Thanxs again for your reply! Tarina

    Re: "Mind in my Matter"

I have often pondered that all of the matter that we have in our minds is quite useless. We only use a small portion of our brains so they say. What on Gods green earth is all of the other grey matter for anyways.
They also say that we are the most intelligent mammals on earth, yet we are the scourge of our planet. We are spoiling every natural resource that we have, we are polluting the entire world. There of course are necks in the world that are pure, unspoiled and untainted by man. But I'm sure it won't be too long before we destroy that too.
We have all seen the movie, either the old or new version, War of the Worlds. Well who's to say that it's not a bad idea to kill off the human race because we are getting to the point in our world where there will be no turning back, it will be too late to save our Mother Earth. But I am hopeful that we as an entire population will come to terms with this immense problem, and we will all do everything in our power to help our planet. To keep sustaining the human population from total annhilation. I say to each and every one of you that reads this, it is indeed Mind Over Matter.

I think this is a fallacious meme. When push comes to shove, we carry no passengers.

It is true that plant’s awareness is very rudimentary, but their cells do sense (in a chemical way) light, heat, foreign cells, pH condition in liquids and many other states of matter that can be good or bad for their survival.

I would call those conditional reflexes?

Conditional reflex would seem to be the early stage of learning for all species. Some species are then able to assimilate and coordinate a wide range of reflexes, while others require and utilize far fewer.

We are among the species with a broader range of options, not suggesting that we always deploy them, lol....

    Are mind and consciousness synonymous?
