Who was first?

Who was the first philosopher?

Who determines this and how?

Why is s/he considered the first philosopher?

Who invented the word philosopher and philosophy?

Who do you (personally) consider the greatest philosopher of all times?

Please if you know any answer give it to me, they are simple questions that I want to know for general knowledge on the history and begining of philosophy.

But then also the first scientist was.....

It doesn't work with me. I mean, the first "strict" philosopher. I have seen in many web pages that it was Thales of Miletus, because he was the first one that got from the misticism, theist, and other supernatural explenations, to have a rational way of looking at nature. He is said to be also the father of science because he studied nature. Although sometimes it's said that what greeks did was philosophy of nature, because they didn't do empirism.

EDIT: here I am talking about greek philosophers on the thread, not including oriental philsophers because these had a different divelopment and method.

the 1st person who idealize the physical world instead of realize is also the 1st philosopher. And the 1st person who realize the physical world is the 1st scientist.

mustn't you be a philosopher before you can be a scientist?

I don't think exactly like this.

Althouh Antonio, The 1st philosophers WHERE the 1st scientists. Not the other way round. It wasn't that they applied science methods to phlosophy, but philosophy methods to science. They call it philosophy of nature. It was done by the anciant greek philosophers. For example, the 4 esential materials (water, fire, air, earth) was a philosophic proposition for scientific natural understanding. I think that Thales was both the first scientist and philosopher, but not very develpoed these two. So the first "real" philosopher can be said to be Socrates and the first "real" scientist can be said to be Archemides.

Now, who was the first mathematician? what determiens it? was it the first one to count? or the first one to do mathematical works (easy arithmetic and geometry)? Maybe the Egyptians for geometry for the Pyramids?

idealization implies denial of imperfection, while realization implies acceptance.

the first person to use some forms of number systems. But the most basic form is the binary system of 'yes' and 'no' or '1' and '0' numbers.

did you know that Archimedes invented calculus long before Newton? If noone prior, I think Archimedes should at least be considered one of the first sophisticated mathemeticians.
