    How intelligent is intelligent?

As intelligent as it's owners bounderies? But not quite as intelligent without wisdom? And is Wisdom entirely seperate? (i feel so)
How can scientists possibly measure interlect? Not all minds are generic.....or work in the same way....

    Re: How intelligent is intelligent?

Wisdom is a certain kind of intelligence that involves fundamental principles.

How intelligent intelligence is depends on the context. At minimum, it would be something that is capable of intentional, directed rationality (thinking here what criterion we would use if we encountered an alien life form). Intelligence could also be used as a measure of comparison (like how samoyeds are intelligent dogs whereas Irish setters have been called so dumb they could get lost on the other end of their leash).

If we did interplanetary travel and encountered an alien race which was only about as intelligent as profoundly retarded humans, would we consider that we had encountered intelligent life forms or not?

    Re: How intelligent is intelligent?

Intelligence is based on the level of knowledge one might have.
Wisdom is based on how well one uses that intelligence regardless of the level.

Intelligence is recognizing patterns. Insanity is imagining patterns. Where is the line?

    regards,
Yikes! Physical truth is not the whole truth, and a partial truth is a lie.

The line is the truth. Intelligence lives in the realm of reality; insanity lives in the realm of falseness. Lloyd, please tell me you only posted that to make a point that those not living in reality don't know what the whole truth is, and may confuse it with absolute physical truth?
