What do you think.. is "Lifes Biggest Question - 02-03-2007, 11:35 PM

Hey all .. yes I have been a bit slack in my contributions lately.. I assure you I am always thinking though.. this thought in particular I decided to plant right here.. Moderators - please move if you think this thread belongs somewhere else.. thanks..
This particular thought was simple.. to ask you all a question.. a question I pondered for many hours at work last night..

What do you think.. is "Lifes Biggest Question"

Is there more than one question to which there logically is more than one answer..?? Or is lifes biggest question simple.. and seeks to only answer one question..??

I asked a friend today what she thought was lifes biggest question.. and without hesitation she answered.. "are you my mother..??"
A very simple question we all take for granted.. and ironically I had also thought about this as lifes biggest question.. which suggests to me.. there may indeed be more than one answer..

In order to answer this question .. one first task would be.. to define life and question.. never mind whether its biggest or not.. biggest is a what we perceive as a major life question.. and it is with this thread I ask you all ..

What do you think.. is "Lifes Biggest Question"

I look forward to your replies .. I'll be back in one week .. enjoy your week ahead and be safe ..

Kind Regards Ashley

Thanks Ashley, and welcome back,I have missed you,The answer to that question you posed for me is simple,it is this;Who am I,Where have I come from, where am I going!
How am I going to get there! What is the true purpose of objective existance?

That is what I consider the big questions, what about you??

If you ask your biggest question here are the things you can expect to happen.

If you get an/a:
1. answer "life ceases to exist as it has served it's duty"
2. response "you get a sign from God saying you are close to asking life the right question"
3. blank stare "you are on the wrong track out of touch with reality"
4. reaction "your question opens up the gates to heaven"

This is a personal question, which no doubt will reveal many individual answers provided
they respond of course to this thread?

Tell me Ashley is the reason for this thread to answer another question posed by some
exams you are doing?

For me there have been many questions that have arisen over the years, but the most
persistant one has to be,what am I?And where do I Really come from? These have in
effect been answered,so now the question is;accept the answer, and live within the day,
and expect the unexpected!

Wow.. Hey all..

I quite often forget where I put things.. like this thread.. and Michael.. the answer to your question of "why I am asking this question".. may be unexpected.. surprisingly.. probably for reasons of insanity.. I have asked many people this question..

While I was at work.. and quite possibly needed entertaining..

Of course Michael.. individual people have individual questions.. Quite often.. the questions of an individual.. become relative to another individual.. whom has asked a similar question in a different context.. however.. when united questions.. seek an individual answer.. the questions and therefore answers.. become a unified mission.. such as TOE

Anyway.. we all live in question and it is inevitable that through the stages of growth there will be more than one question and answer.. leading to the bigger picture..??

Actually there are 6 questions humanity seek to answer.. What.. where.. who.. when and how.. and in among all of these questions we seek to ask why.. ?? And these questions have evolved as humanity has evolved for hundreds of years.. not to mention thousands..

I write this with the suggestion .. why is the biggest question of all time.. although "are you my mother?" was a good one.. and in a world full of question.. we seldom stop to ask why we thought of her as our mother.. she coulda been anyone..??

As soon as our children learn how to walk .. they learn how to talk.. and we begin teaching them who.. what.. and where.. mostly for safety.. and as kids are not programmed as such to ask why.. they trust what their parents say as the truth..

How many children do you know whom ask why.. usually this happens around the age of 7 or 8 dependant upon other circumstnaces.. and mostly because children want to know .. why they are not allowed to do something or have something..

And then one day it just so happens that the children find dad under the xmas tree making out with the tooth fairy.. or what appears to be the tooth fairy but is really mum .. and dad.. and the whole santa story is let out of the sack.. along with the easter bunny and tooth fairy.. around the age of 6 children learn santa isnt real..
Chances are they were gonna find out anyway.. as kids whisper among themselves.. the fantasy or illusion we create for our kids ultimately ends..!!

We never explain to our kids.. why we lied or created this illusion or fantasy.. and as parents.. its inevitable we will pass this tradition onto our kids.. without ever knowing why or how.. we simply think this is what happens and act accordingly along with every other tradition..

We live with the basic questions until mostly a major event occurs.. spurring us to ask more questions.. mostly when something of value falls around us in a crashing heap.. just like my pile of bricks that moments before resembles a house..

Imagine the temples of Giza falling.. what question would we ask.. at present we seek to answer how they were built.. and when .. many theories have been built around these questions without ever questioning in depth why they were built..

All I know at present.. is that in order to ask why.. one first of all needs to answer all the questions before.. like who what where when and how..

I'll tie it all in later.. after reading the comments.. thanks for all your replies..

Ashley xxxxxxx

(Michael you asked what my biggest question was.. and I asked it.. in the very first post.. however.. as I thoerise lifes biggest question to be "why".. my answer would have to be.. "why not")

Re: What do you think.. is "Lifes Biggest Question - 04-07-2007, 03:09 AM

I think life’s biggest question is “What am I doing here?” and whether I can answer it or not ask “Now that I’m here, what should I do?”

At first you sleep in your dear mother’s womb;
At last you sleep in earth’s cold silent tomb.
In between, Life whispers a dream that says
Wake, live, for the rose withers all too soon!

Be wide aware when chance shines as your sun,
For she, in turn, happens on everyone.
Graciously welcome the lady of luck
By recognizing her as Dame Fortune.

I fear not death, Heaven, or even Hell;
For death is only life’s natural knell,
And Heaven and Hell are within myself;
The one thing I fear is not living well!

Life is a web of whos, whys, whats, and hows,
Stretched in time between eternal boughs.
Gossamer threads hold the beads that glisten,
Each minute a sequence of instant nows.

To future columns I stretch my present row,
By a lifeline of tenuously spun vow.
Oh how soon the weighted web begins to fail!
The only real time under my feet is NOW.

Life roots fast in the fertile cracks of day
From seeds planted along that rocky way.
Like artisans, we mix our work and play,
Nurturing, then harvesting life’s bouquet.

When once I was, my presence full beheld
Spirit, body, heart, and mind all in meld.
More than just the parts, I became the whole,
A human being living life unparalleled.

Can you seize what’s flown or yet to be sown?
No! So fill the cup and drink-in what’s known.
Since the past dies as the future becomes,
Now’s the only time you can call your own!

Living well is more a matter of style,
Attitude, and ready reaction to
Opportunity than a calculated,
Scheduled, ponderous activity.

There are two days about which I needn’t ask:
The one that hasn’t come, and the one that’s past;
For I live in a paradisal now,
In which the moment is eternally vast!

The simple things are still the best in life:
The familial time with children and wife,
A cool glass of water from the well,
And trusted friends—all antidotes of strife.

Let not the certainty of the present be
Held mortgage for the Deed of Futurity;
For tomorrow is just a gleam from afar,
And yesterday is but a cold ash of thee.

How wondrous this! How mysterious that!
There’s nowhere else to look for life’s impact
One must experience the wonder and
Mystery of life in every single act.

Since death is a certain fate on the Earth,
One must ask: How shall I live my worth?
Stay busy living—or you’ll be dying.
The answer please: ‘There’s life after birth!’

Drink the lifeblood of the grapes you’ve sown,
Before pressing time squeezes out what’s grown.
Do toast with thy chalice and all inspire:
To life’s red wine I give all that I own!

I’ve constructed the world that dreams require,
One molded closer to the heart’s desire.
In this world body of a soul inspired,
I’ll live life entire before I expire.

The revelation hit me like an hourglass,
One made of the heaviest welded brass.
I rose with a start, my life anew begun,
Before more time through me unaware could pass.

Lovely moment, come hither unto me;
Embrace me, then expiring, give birth to
Another just as sweet—you’re mine, all mine,
For you’re giving me the time of my life!

Seize the moment or lose its momentum
Wear your time as a royal diadem;
Richly accelerate life’s momentous gem—
Do let your motto be Carpe diem.

Hi.. I think your first question.. is an individual question.. what am I doing here..??
every individual at this particular stage in lifes' questions.. will either ask.. or have asked this question.. to define individual purpose and clarity to ones life.. with additional meaning..

The second question seeks to ask why..?? .. although an individual question.. Now that I’m here, what should I do? .. seeks to unify the additional meaning.. collectively..

The reason I state this is due to the fact.. whatever the intention and action we choose to decide upon.. in doing something to fulfill ones purpose.. we have the ability to affect other people.. in what I would call.. unified collective awareness

The question why..?? seeks to unite all of lifes previous questions..

Simply Thought

Thanks Ashley, good to see you online and back in the forum,to stay I hope?
The biggest question will always be subjective to the individuals time, and place, and circumstance, that they become consciously aware, such as a child in a famine hit area
of Africa, would be thinking will I ever have enough to eat? While a spoilt western child
may be thinking, will I be able to produce my own designer clothes, and become richer
than I am now?

Personally,I have often thought, what possible reason would an Absolute Perfect Being
who has no Possible want, need, bring about a physical universe, then populate it with
itself Alone!!

But I accept that this is so,and it does not cause me any real concern, just a wondering
WHY?????

regards michael.

Hey Michael.. are you able to define stay for me please.. the confusion in this context of the word stay.. encountered a first thought of execution..

Haha just kidding..

I am unable.. due to unforeseen circumstances.. able to stay in one place for too long.. so.. no promises.. and if you wonder why.. lol.. have a little faith.. you never know when I may turn up.. or where for that matter lol..

Your words above became of interest as a wondering why.. is essential for the wandering eye/I..
