Stress is threat or challenge which is a principle determinant of behaviour.
Normal can be seen as different directions or courses of active, interest and behaviour necessary for the development of the whole potential unique to being human.
This is not possible without periodic decisions for increased differentiation in means of coping with and adapting to the environment.
The instinctive goal apart from survival is greater efficiency in coping and adapting.
(Jeff Mayo, Study into Personality)
