    Re: Phiolosophy of psychiatry....

Stress is threat or challenge which is a principle determinant of behaviour.

Normal can be seen as different directions or courses of active, interest and behaviour necessary for the development of the whole potential unique to being human.

This is not possible without periodic decisions for increased differentiation in means of coping with and adapting to the environment.

The instinctive goal apart from survival is greater efficiency in coping and adapting.

    (Jeff Mayo, Study into Personality)

Were talking here about the evolutionary impulse!
Why is psychiatry shutting that down into stasis...when it exists for growth, maturity of body/psychological systems, development and maturity..

    What Sense To Make?
    Which Path To Take?

From what beastly heart springs our zest?
Of what searching eye became our sight?
What sound in the bushes let us hear?
What dark past haunts but helps us be?

Across what ink black river did we have to swim?
To what ends at length did we search for food?
In what deep entangled forest were we bred?

    And hitherto,
Of what stars did we shine of their stead?
And in what nursery were those infants fed?

    Re: Phiolosophy of psychiatry....

Right after my last post I got a migraine. It would not go away. For 11 days I suffered and my kids suffered. I slept through most of it, because pain meds did not touch it. I kept thinking stress or depression was the trigger. Everything smelled terrible and my visual imbalance made me nauseous and dizzy. I found some allergy/pain medicine and took it out of desperation. It worked!

There is a reason for my post, but....I gtg.

Medical Director of Swiss Clinic Takes Brave Stand on the Hazards of Electromagnetic Pollution

Dr. Thomas Rau, medical director of the world-renowned Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland, says he is convinced ‘electromagnetic loads’ lead to cancer, concentration problems, ADD, tinnitus, migraines, insomnia, arrhythmia, Parkinson’s and even back pain.

At Paracelsus, cancer patients are now routinely educated in electromagnetic (EM) field remediation strategies, and inspectors from the Geopathological Institute of Switzerland are sent to patients’ homes to assess EM field exposures.

Dr. Rau says one strategy to consider for those experiencing ‘electrical sensitivity’ is to remove the electromagnetic hot spot in your head created by the presence of metal fillings. Fillings can act as antennas in the presence of cell phones and cell towers, wi-fi networks, portable phones, and other sources of radio frequency radiation.

Beneficial bacteria also grow more slowly in the presence of electromagnetic fields, so aggressive supplementation with probiotics may help those exposed to EM radiation.

Electrical sensitivity is a sometimes debilitating experience created by the disregulating effects of electromagnetic fields. It has been linked to many acute and chronic illness conditions, and is a serious emerging public health issue.

Have you checked your house Racecar....my daughter just got over bouts of Migraine....they had to get rid of their big screen TV....the EMF in their house too massive....
    She is EMF sensitive.....

No wonder I can hear the local radio station and also people's thoughts. I thought I was telepathic…

I know how you feel, Racecar, having laboured at a reply and then lost it when the system timed me out.

Since then, I select and save my post as I go along and that seems to have resolved the problem.

Looking forward to your update on the migraines.

For the present, it's however the AMA defines it.
I believe you'll always have deviations from the norm, due to probability distributions.

Mikal, interesting note on electromagnetic pollution. We have one, small tv; we do have 5 computers set up for the kids, though. I did recently put our microwave back out... it's all screwy and the table doesn't turn, we don't use it often. My fillings are 20 years old. We don't have cell phones. I'd be more worried if we were back in Vegas.

I'm thinking my allergy is dust related (I'm allergic to house keeping ). Our house is quite old and our renovations are at a snails pace.

    Re: Phiolosophy of psychiatry....

Electromagnetic...is it at all related to the pineal gland and magnetite? Just before the migraine I was looking in that direction. And it's kind of wierd because magnetite in bees is what got me going and well....i'm still thinking.
