Main TOE Forums - 07-24-2005, 01:05 AM

I've been doing some thinking about the forum organization and I think I need to change the category/forum/sub-forum organization around to better focus on our Theory of Everything discussions. I don't want ToeQuest to be a general science forum like so many others, but I want to focus better on our niche. The discussions have been on topic for the most part, but I'm thinking the organization needs to evolve.

I've got some ideas in mind, but want to open this thread for others to post their comments and suggestions. Are there any forums you would like to see added? Are there any forums you think are out of place and should be removed or renamed?

Some changes coming this weekend - 09-13-2005, 01:37 AM

This weekend, mostly on Friday, I will be re-organizing the forums. I'll be adding a Math Category for one. It has been sorely needed for a long time and some of the other forums are being used for math-related threads. Sorry this has taken so long. I've got some other ideas also that I think you will like. Also, still looking for moderators. I may contact some of you individually, but if you are interested, you can always apply for the position by clicking "Quick Links" and then choosing the bottom option, "Apply for Moderator".

Apart from all those ideas I already gave you,

I think that the forum "Your TOE" should be split into two, one "Your philosophical TOE" and another one "Your Scientificall TOE" And this last one must requiere mathematics in the toe presented. I say this because I continually read theories and theories that have no scientific or mathematical meaning. Maybe you ahve a better idea.

Forum Re-organization (in progress) - 01-02-2006, 01:00 PM

Hello Members. I'll be re-organizing the forums again over the next couple of weeks. I'll be adding some new categories, new forums, changing names and descriptions, and adding introductory posts to each forum. I'll preserve all existing posts but may need to move some threads to more appropriate forums.

If you have any ideas, suggestions, or see changes you disagree with, please can post your comment here and I'll see what I can do.

Also, I'd like to assign moderators to all of the forums so might be contacting some of you in the coming days. If this sounds interesting to you, you can apply for moderator and your application will be reviewed and voted on by the current ToeQuest moderator team.

Hi guille,
My opinion is that TOE has to draw from both philosophy and science. If you look at history of science- established theories and rules have changed-though change is slow. similarly philosophy has changed too-because they are inacceptable or inappropriate for contemporary situations. to quote an example - when i watched - Brian Green's " The Elegant Universe". so many stories correlated to stories that i am reading from ancient indian philosophical books ( presumed to be spoken some 5000 years ago and are considered perpatual and eternal). Only difference is presentation style, which is dictated by the contemporary audience.

thanks,
Yogi

Robert,

This program using 'threads' might for practical applications be able to create resolution for those persons with limited computer ability and lack of engineering logic like myself; if only we might be able to see the larger tapestry of the threads that are being worked out daily. By doing this, which is probably impossible, a person like myself might appreciate the diversity of concepts and ideas that create an awareness to think on the whole of the tapestry while concentrating on the thread that keeps the tapestry colorful, strong, and meaningful.
Maybe we need to see our threads as puzzle pieces and find expression by using the puzzle pieces to see the big picture more clearly.
peace,
pastor Jeff Otterman

Hello Rev. Otterman. First, I'd like to welcome you to ToeQuest. It is certainly nice to hear your perspective in our Quest. In your post you've hit on a topic on which I've spent much time pondering. I've been searching for alternative ways of organizing the content at ToeQuest so various patterns, connections between thoughts and ideas, the larger picture can emerge as a more comprehensible whole. I think better tools will emerge over time and I will integrate those with the website as they become available. The best tool I have found so far is mind mapping technology that I use with the topic assimilation sub-forums. There is only one thread that has been assimilated so far named Qualia. There is a mind map document and a free viewer that can be downloaded for viewing the qualia mind map. I'll be starting more of these threads in 2006, and will be seeking to work with the vender to add collaboration and merge features to the tool.

Hello Sub. Thanks for your suggestion. This is possibly covered by the "Theory of Everything"-->"The High Level View" for how the TOE would affect a society. If not, what category would you propose for the society forum. It almost fits in the Psychology category in how a society accepts or rejects an idea. There is a group psychology at work here. Some of the organization in societies may touch on emergence (a new sub-forum). Some cities have shown indications of emergent behavior when viewing the citizens as a whole. Did you have any topics in mind? That might give me a better idea where to place it.

thanks Robert, actually I think you're right that it is already included under the high level view. I guess I just have to start writing about it now. Thanks
