Universe to me , means one. If they are two ,three or many I dont have any reason to not consider them all put together , one. Or if there are infinite number of universes then also it remains one infinite universe. It is like a blind man's question answered by another blindman.

Ultimately, one comes from the many and the many come from one. All is one. Squared.
(George Berkeley, 1710) ... lay the beginning in a distinct explication of what is meant by thing, reality, existence: for in vain shall we dispute concerning the real existence of things, or pretend to any knowledge thereof, so long as we have not fixed the meaning of those words.

"Reality is an illusion - albeit a persistent one." - Einstein

    hi there
i say three the bb could of easily produced more universes personaly i think that our universe is the largest
being the main part of the bb and the other two are off casts asuming the universe is flat they lie above and below
    thanks Swoarg

i chose 2 im not going to pretend i understand this 1 too much but i belive that there is our universe and 1 that is an opposite to ours in some way i couldnt begin to understand these differences but thats my theory all the same

but if there is more than 1 universe shouldnt we be calling it the multiverse not the universe as 'uni' suggests there is only 1 plane of existance

Re: How many universes do you believe there are?

    Hello friends:
My vote is for two. The reason that I feel that there is 2 is because I see a constant as the basis of life. The constant is experienced by us as a drive to survive that we share with all animals. This constant I see as CONTINUE:
In single cell life this constant is the ability to regenerate species. Species = specific data
This continue has no place to exist except as the basis of time itself.
This indicates that it is likely that our primary force is a bipole.
    (Gravity / Continue)
    Gravity(space,matter,energy) exp=3 Continue(time,being,creation)exp=1

Under these conditions when we look at time and space they should be exactly equivalent to each other.
It is obvious that they are not.
They are exactly equivalent in that they define each other in our existence medium, but the exponent indicates that the symmetry is not correct.

In order to achieve symmetry, a mirror image of our existence medium is needed. This will result in 2 existence mediums. One of 3 dimensional space and one dimension of time, and the other of 3 dimensional time and one dimension of space. This would result with the needed symmetry to see a symmetrical bipolar force.

When examining the possibilities of this configuration many other coincidences become apparent.
Too many for one person to correctly catalog, though I have been at this for more than 37 years.

I do not disagree with what I do not understand. I strive to understand so that I do not find myself disagreeing with the WYSIWYG of the environment that I live within.

Our universe made of of matter, and to restore symmetry an anti-universe made up of an equal amount of anti-matter.

There is only one, because other wise I will have to chose none.that will increase the terror of loneliness.
I am always told that I am new here and I aught to introduce myself,so I am doing that.My name is Girdharilal which doesn't amount to much,a dead sort of chemical engineer and may be a retired sales man.

Re: How many universes do you believe there are?

    Hi Girdharilal;

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I picked two to balance our matter universe with an anti-matter one. I guess there is no laws of physics that prohibit a Bi-Tri-or Multi universes, or a Uni-universe. Who Knows?

    Best to you,

    Pat

Re: How many universes do you believe there are?

Why does one find it necessary to state that there must be more than one universe? If I have a basket full of identical apples, how many apple do I have?

When does an entity become and entity? Is there a difference between pure water in location x with pure water in location y? If time is an element of the observer what is the true meaning of distance?

I propose that there is only one universe where an infinite number of dimensions and zero demensions are at the same point.
