Its kind of a complex experience to have in life and I think its the kind of experience that only the experiencer understands.
I used the word "paradox" to describe the experience...only in the sense that its quite strange to die in life while your still alive and have not physically died. The experience itself rather contradicts most things one has been told to believe in life...so its very conducive to inciting curiosity and wonder about life...to appease that growing wonder takes a journey of study which being long in nature...does not "knowledgize" you but ends up "wisening" you....

Hi smiley
Again I would say it is no paradox my friend. An event is either +1 or -1 but never one. The -1 = life, the +1 = death. when we try to quantify the event horizon we find the effect being death or life. The in between, has no quantifiable time element as it is instantaneous to the one going through it to +1.
This rebirth from larva to a butterfly, the most common of theological event tools to teach the reincarnation of the ID, the human personal identity being reborn ... is relative to the time put on it but with out time, it happens to the creature in the cocoon in a life process not a life death life string. just life life life ... we on the other stage go life /death event/ perceptibly dead...
The instantaneous death event, that point of no return, is a dance of particle form, having no beginning before the event and no ending after. WE make the ending in our mind alone. ... some do actually as assuredly some do not.
I should share an event that took place today. I was scanning pics to disk record of them taken years ago from one of ten albums I received after my mother passed away some five years ago and she gave me a message. After dad had passed in 98 she reestablished contact with people back in Montreal and one was an old boyfriend who had a crush on her back then and they visited each other in Washington and Montreal after contact where unknowing to me she remarried, to him.
He passed on a year or so later but she had never told me of this but there it was in a short note behind one of her photos where all dressed up she wrote "here I am all dressed up to go see Tom Jones who had been in town, just before going and getting married..." and after scanning some 73 pics and pushing the buttons to down load to disk ... only one got downloaded, her picture. lol Keep smiling ~ Peace! Graham.
