Sally, that word was too long for me, but I guess some people try to get the 'high' by almost hanging themselves. A guy in a newspaper report did it too long and reached a new low—and died from stupidity.
Human Life depends so much on how you choose to live life. I have seen life snuffed out by the road side and have seen other people struggle to save somebody's life...

And at the same time: a human life is so much more.
Dead is dead does seem likely since we are made of stardust and as organic as anything else in nature. Naturally, some mammal organisms wish for more and make claims of being eternal.

HMMM where do we find the answer Austin? Children are the only guarantee at a chance of immortality. When the individual dies without children he kills off all those before that made him who he was. ... "eternal" yes as paradoxical it sounds from your post eternal related to science where we only alter the state of energy not create or destroy energy and we are a unit of energy as a human identity .... lets go revisit some one posting the time delay factor or consciousness or perception extended here which i a agree with being so enlightening the postulation ... we die and we do not even know it until after the event. ... so what happens after you die is simple, you know it! The last thing you get to percieve is your death having taken place to make the presentation to you perception ... profound, totally profound my friend ~ kind regards g.
Afew questions guys....what if our soul being more than likely pure energy is incapable of death? What if the persona or personality or sense of self is in the soul? How do we explain reliable IDE and NDEs? Could proving reincarnation solve the dilemma? I myself having experienced consciousness after death could never justify the statement dead is dead...I am kind of caught in the purgatory of indecision about this subject...

There would in science, the nature of things imply with energy that there is a spin by resonant conjunction of wave form emit ... hackles raised yet? Goosebumps? ... Item a and item b sharing a bridge then there is no item a and you find yourself on the bridge crumbing beneath you ... do you try and get back along the silver thread? The tiny hope??? yes you do, you did you will ... and in an elastically snap .. you are back ... and when the thread breaks and you are suspended knowing it is broke in the advance wave ... the last one emit do you ride it? ... ill be hanging ten baby and i only surfed once in the salty pond but i will hang ten ... embracing the wave cause it is there all the way to where ever you want to let it take you and any island in the sky ... just don't try it to soon, ... ~ peace Graham
Graham...am chuckling here now...can just picture you surfing in the salty pond...smiles. I hate to complicate the questions but to all medical opinion I was dead, deceased, no heart beat, no breathing...the chemical compostion which runs the heart missing the sodium or salt content in blood....emergency spinal performed. I remember everything that happened to me when I left...higher dimensional being I assumed was an angel told me I was in the state our world called death...no hallucination here....thats in the mind...my entire body remembers dying....
Again I stress there is no desire to try this...it just happened to me...
All we know is our memories, associations, learnings reside in the brain, so thence this uniqueness of self crumbles back to stardust at death. "What ifs" are still fun to think about. I believe that even the Christian soul is as above, but maybe they don't want to publicize it—at least the Episcopal was said to be.
Hallucinations are common in NDEs when endorphin opiates flood the brain near death. They can also occur, but less often, when one is quite alive.
Thanks Austie....seeing it was my entire body seemingly in what you call hallucination I am still complexed and remain that way until it is determined why people experience consciousness after death....its perplexing what this body I was in was...when my physical body was lying in the bed...also the experience of coming back and being like poured back into my body....expressly a sensory experience I felt as limbs weighing a ton....very uncomfortable feeling....I have never been satisfied with the definition of hallucination and have discussed this with MDs....
