A Moslem person might say that Mohammed received the right scoop from God from an angel in a cave and that he is to be listened to, not Jesus, for we had witnesses there at the time—and if you don't believe this, you will not be rewarded in the afterlife. It says so in the Koran.

I hereby proclaim that a Cosmic Egg formed the universe, but that it's remains and any other affilations with the universe are invisible and operate in totally undetectible ways. Please convert since I am right.
I hesitated long to respond to your heavily biased post.
2. What is wrong with religious pluralism? Why would the multiplicity of religion "species" be "stupid" as you put it, while similar multiplicity and variety of other organisms, cultures, languages, ethnic groups, ... etc, are not so stupid?
Christopher Hitchens has an excellent book "God is Not Great" that explains why religion poisons everything.
It's true that Islam borrowed from Christianity and Judism at first, in lieu of their own relevations, but then found it in Mohammed, whose doings were hilarious, but so sadly human, as described in the above-mentioned book, along with those of Joseph Smith who founded the Mormons, Martin Luther and many more. The book is a real eye-opener even for non-believers. It came to be Mohammed who delivered Allah's final word, not Jesus.
Arbitrary belief from supposed revelation in one's own culture often comes from the merciless indoctrination of the culture, and, since it happens in so many cultures, means that only one or none can be true. All the contradictory beliefs in the world suggest that billions upon billions of people in the world are just simply wrong, but all will swear that they are right—it is only the other who are wrong.
Sorry if I may have offended your faith or too hastily eliminated Jesus from Islam, but I'm sure you get the gist of all this in terms of brainwashing.
'Brainwashing' can only work if we are receptive to it...
I, am cosmologically deranged.
From Reality, I've made myself estranged.
Now, I like to dream up concepts and their aims,
'cos then I'm always the winner in my games.

"The sense of threat from every quarter of what is known as the Establishment – which is to say, of modern civilization – is not altogether a put-on or an act for many of these young folk, but an actual condition of soul. The break-off is real, and what is being bombed and blown up outside are actual symbols of interior fears." - Joseph Campbell

Austintorn....I like your term "religion poisons everything" and in saying that I wish to offend nobody's religion but some of us had an opportunity while young to be struck and impacted by religion in a negative way so as to allow us the opportunity to make the decision to simply not give up the power of our faith to an outside ridgidly formed dogma. When we do not forfeit our faith and mind to a dogma...we are blessed to expand the depth of our spiritual interiority and expand our mental horizons into the full capacity of our own intellectual life. When one owns their own mind...it is to live with a huge sense of exclusivity from the indoctrination of society and culture. Most do not understand that brainwashing is a religious and cultural preoccupation.

Hi Austin
Just a comment pertaining to Martin Luther, he was not the head of a religious organisation but a figure head for the people who agreed with his stance of opposing, what in effect was, the force indoctrination, the immorality and the lack of freedom imposed by Roman Catholicism upon people who wanted to be Christians. The printing of The Bible in the language of the people instead of in Latin.
For the first time due to the Lutheran (and the King James's) bible people could interpret its meaning etc without referring to a priest and with out having to pay for the privilege. People started to realise that God really was good and loving, and that he was personal the them etc. etc.
The backlash by Rome, namely the Pope and his cohorts, to the fear of an increasing lack of revenue and power was to increase the inquisition and do their Good Roman Catholic version of a Christian act which was to maim, torture and burn to death any one who would not openly agree that the Pope, who was condoning these acts, was God representative on earth and that the Catholic God was good . For the first time, in Europe, people were able to choose to believe or not.
The point is, That Luther through his Protestations and activity broke what was Catholic brainwashing and indoctrination through fear.
Hi Michael...I do agree that repeating parrot fashion is a symptom of brainwashing but as I represented The Council On Mind Abuse for two years on behalf of my city, I certainly grasped the inevitable damage which can be wrought through brainwashing, so to your suggestion I would add..."it is to take one's capacity for belief as hostage." It is to dumm down a person's ability to engage in critical thought and it is to use fear in a covert, advantageous manner against another person.

Hi Michael...yes I agree that subliminal advertising is evil and although it has toned down some...if a person is not aware of the thought system which created subliminal advertising...it is unfortunately still capable of producing abuse in our society...thankfully some high-level executives are now speaking out openly about this particular abuse.
