    Re: The Dark Path

No I appreciate the truth event though I try hard to avoid it, just makes me realize I’m failing is all. Yes I guess I often am blunt or straight forward. I believe every one needs to take the good with the bad. I was just following up with my own perspectives on those ethnic backgrounds. I give all of them two good and two bad points as well as respect. But not always is the bad a bad thing. Some times the bad points help some one from making a bad choice or decision that could be worse.

I also believe those traits are a direct result of weather, just as astrology predicts personalities by sign. If some one is out side all the time then they are more proficient at something then one who is in close quarters. At the same rate some one in close quarters would be more communicative then some one who is out doors. This would result from weather changing or not changing. So genetics would carry these natural selections on.

I’ll answer in pm. Sure I see no reason not to keep this discussion going although I might be dragging it slightly off topic, I do that a lot. Lol. So get some sleep, as I’m sure your doing, as if you’d listen to me anyway, I’d probably just keep posting my ass off..

    Re: The Dark Path

A change of priorities, poorly communicated and management had a near riot on their hands. Night crew was idiosyncratic and rather volatile at best, strong personalities with individual areas of expertise, and considerable respect for each other's abilities.

The small crew carried a disproportionately large amount of the work load of the store. In the middle of an unusually large weekend label run, Labelwench was assigned additional tasks, thereby having several hours of her work diverted to her co-workers.

Management had not realized that what Labelwench could accomplish in three hours, would take another nearly twice as long. She had been specializing and challenging herself at this job nearly four years and while the guys were very good, at labels, she was the high water mark.

It was a tense night, because quite frankly, the fellows hadn't been quite aware of that fact either, and now it was very apparent, and some feelings were abraded. The work load was daunting, yet in the end, their combined efforts prevailed.

Management was made aware of the inadequacies of the scheme and adjustments made accordingly, a seriously overlooked first step. Maybe, when next Saturday rolled around, this path, now once tread, would prove friendlier, with the suggested changes addressed.

Driving home, Yanni's 'Reflections of Passion' seemed to strike an appropriate chord.

    Re: The Dark Path

    Hello greenbug.

It was an ugly two days just passed. Between stress and having gone out of phase with my sleep patterns, I dropped 4 pounds in 36 hours, and I'm not one of those "built for comfort" sorts to start, LOL.

Regarding the sleep issue, my co-workers and I all experience times when we get out of synch, or disrhythmic as I refer to it. We are all experienced in proper sleep habits, knowing what to do and what to avoid, but it seems like the body just needs to reset itself from time to time.

Usually, only one of us is off pattern at a time, and it happens less often to myself than the fellows. Not sure if that is age related, as they are both about seven years older, a biological difference him/her wise, or if it is because I seem to eat healthier and am more persistent in my routines.

    Any thoughts on that topic?

    Regards,
    Labelwench

Yeah on days when I only get four hours of sleep the next day I can sleep my normal 6 +4.. It seems if I miss two I need to make up four. I don’t really know what to say more than that. As far as age goes.. Every one has a different breaking point but it seems fitness has a lot to do with it. I’m a firm believer in “if you don’t use it you lose it“. If you don’t stretch your self from time to time you will be less capable of doing so. No one likes to change their routine because its comfort, but some times it is necessary. So yes I agree with you. Age and fitness.. Fitness also including healthy eating.

    Re: The Dark Path

I also wanted to say it has a lot to do with some ones will power. If some one believes what they are doing is justified in their life then the ability to do what they need to is there.

Personally I work harder than a lot of people I work with and I attribute that to my focus. I tell my self I’m going to do something and I do it using all of my mental and physical focus. I don’t feel the job is pointless or worthless as I get gratification out of how well and or fast I can accomplish it. Some people look at their job and get discouraged. I too have done this but I found if I ignore all the details and keep my brain busy till the end then I never even notice any bad or good points. I just do what needs to be done. Some people ask where I get my energy from but I wonder why they cant find it in themselves? Perhaps when I get older I’ll have more aches and pains that stifle my energy but I think it will still be there. So I think it’s a mental disposition, as well as fitness.

Just reiterating what I already said.

    Hi LW and GB,

I don't work night shift, but I was wondering if when you finish your shift, get home and begin to relax....do you get cold?

And....when you lose weight (stress related) do you notice that you eat less, you're moving faster, or both??

Excellent points greenbug. My present mission is to secure the food supply for the Yukon, working as I do at it's two main sources of nutrition for the entire Yukon Population and many from neighbouring B.C. and Alaska. I consider it a worthwhile vocation.

Repetitive and demanding, working nights and every holiday the past four years, is my personal choice. I work hard and I also play hard.

Desire and willpower are indeed a wellspring of energy. Knowing oneself and understanding how to bring self discipline to bear is an art that requires much practice.

The world does not owe any of us a living, only the opportunity that we may go forth and test our mettle in the arena of choice. Making those choices, now that's an entirely different topic, lol.

Soooooo, how did it come to pass, when at an age that most others are still busy trying to damage brain cells and pass Biology 101, you embarked on this course of eneavour?

What choices led you to the point you are at today, if you care to share?

    Excellent questions, racecar.

The body temperature question requires that I dress in layers, year round. Because the body's temperature naturally drops at night while we are at rest, when we start playing silly-buggers with our schedule, we upset the circadian rhythym that regulates our core temperature.

Everyone I have observed on graveyard shift begins to experience fluctuating hot and cold spells at irregular times. I now carry spare wardrobe with me in case I have made the wrong choice when dressing. The guys usually wear caps and vests which they can remove if they get warm and I wear a t-shirt under a blouse in case rolling up my sleeves isn't adequate. With snow remaining on the ground, I still have my thin thermal layer on under my jeans. A girl must look after her ass-ets, you know.

The weight loss comes from stress. When I prepare for potential battle, I lose interest in eating, and mentally reviewing my options burns energy at an alarming rate. Small slow processor for a brain, much energy loss to resistance, highly inefficient......

    Labelwench

    Re: The Dark Path

First off Racecar. Umm most of us notice that we get cold any time we stop working, naturally. Everyone I work with likes a cool temperature of 72F on average some colder, about 68F with relative 10-20 percent humidity.

I’m a bit of a freak I like temperatures to be about 80F with relative 40 percent humidity, I like the dark at home too so most people who come into my house call it the “Bat cave”. I wear a shirt and sweater almost all year round as summer here tops at 90 max that’s ok with me as long as humidity is a little lower 10 percent. My house is almost always 80 so I don’t get cold when I get home. Electric space heaters have saved me tons of money recently.
I lose weight if I keep my mind occupied on other things. So yes this includes stress as well as non stress related things. Its funny but I move faster when I’m dehydrated. Go figure.. But I don’t sweat a lot either so..

Labelwench.. Oh boy how long do you want this??? Perhaps I should ask what points do you want specifically? I have a few mins so.. Err umm..

Well I have had an extremely eventful life, not kidding. As most I talk to are amazed by how much I’ve done in such a short amount of time. Summing it up to peak points. Parents got divorced at 5 move to the ghetto a 8, started drinking, robbing, stealing due to influences and have a strange perspective from this as well. Also at 4 I was influenced to like airplanes at 8 studied them, by 9 studied physics and read QED. All the while drinking more and more till about 10 my sister died. I became more analytical, as if I wasn’t already because of concern for my brother and sisters. Started to study personalities as well... I changed personality wise at ten by 12 started smoking weed by 14 wanted to kill my self because I started to realize the world wasn’t what I thought it to be. At 16 I was drinking grown men under the table for the hell of it drinking up to 47 shots of liquor, met my wife g/f at the time. Got kicked out of my moms at 17, lived in a van down by the river for 3 months, stop drinking.. 18 stopped smoking weed, kicked out of school got GED, started working factories..20 started working nights.. 24 stopped smoking altogether. 25 got married, then a house.. Had a girl at 27 and my boy at 31.

Ahh bad choices.. Letting my wife go to college while I worked to pay for rent instead of going myself. By the time she was out we couldn’t afford for my schooling. That and maybe spending money on band equipment as I had one from 12 till 23.. I still try to play solo gigs ever now and then twice this past summer and hoping more this year, I play rock, alternative and Nirvana covers. Umm I’m probably forgetting some other crucial points in a crap load of details but this is summed up so.. Oh some cool points I was in 10 elementary schools 3 middle schools and 2 high schools. Learning hasn’t been the best of experiences for me as I’ve taught my self quite a bit of what I know, that also is another long story, had to deal with my parents divorce and being the youngest of some really selfish family members.

    Re: The Dark Path

As I was falling asleep here. I realized another great opportunity growing up to learn about people, in fact I learned more about people in these years of my life more then any other. At the age of 15 I got a job at “The nightmare in Painesville” A haunted house at the local fair grounds. Jumping around scaring people was fun but after a few years I started getting really tired of running and moving and screaming. I started to realize that not every one was getting scared. I started to notice some traits in people who would easily and I could figure just how to scare some one based on their body language, attitude, how fast they walked of if they were talking or not, how they were talking so on.. I noticed the people who were not getting scared basically were coming to be entertained and so started using physical humor like slamming into walls falling acting like I was dying, the like.

I acted there every weekend in October for 9 years. The last week of October on Fridays in four hours we would have 40,000 customers, Saturday 70,000 and Sunday 40,000. So yeah I had a lot of practice reading people and I was awarded number one actor every year but the first year. Oh I forgot to mention I got paid 150 for the month, something like $2 an hour and If I still lived there I’d still be doing it. That’s how much I loved that job.
Ok now off to bed.. Bye.
