I don't know why it is but the effort required to re-do a job that you had done well and thought was there for you is twice as hard as it was the first time, lol.

    I quite agree.

It is one thing if one chooses to revisit their work in order to refine it. In that case, one is coming to the task with creative energy and a positive attitude, having made time and arrangements to suit. It is a positive venture.

To redo a thing because it has become unusable or gone missing is coming from a point of deficit in that the time and energy for such doing have not been factored into one's timeline and one is going to have to realign other priorities in order to accommodate such operational difficulty. One has the sense that one is losing ground rather than gaining it.

I made certain to make another copy of all my work and have them both buried in two separate locations. We've got a grip on the wheel once again, lol....

    Re: The Dark Path

The 'dark path' was anything but last night, as the crew was in good spirits and we aced the stock, even with the truck running late due to winter roads and other operational challenges. Now that Halloween is over, the grocery retail trade is full stride into Christmas mode, and I arrived at the store to find it festooned with large advertising snowflakes, suspended from the ceiling hangars and bedecked on top of pallet displays. In the aisles, the usual 'mushroom' pop-ups had appeared overnight, free-standing display units of Christmas tea, fancy coffee, holiday household scents and Kleenex in fancy boxes proffering samples to try, to name just a few. These required my attention in putting prices on and as I was surveying the Kleenex display, I checked out the offering of 'lotion infused tissue' designed to be softer on the nose.

It was decidedly soft, but I had questions in regard to how absorbent it might be, compared to other offerings. Fifty sheets of tissue for $3.19 seemed more than a little steep, when we had bundle packs of 6 boxes, each of 136 sheets on sale for $3.98. Compare 816 tissues to 50. That must be some lotion, I chuckled. People seem to leap on anything 'new' and a fool and their money are soon parted. Their choice.

In the pasta aisle, I noticed that one of the pastas was now a new size, 375 grams compared to 450 grams previously. I carefully scrutinized the two boxes. The clever marketing devils! The two boxes were exactly identical in size and coloring. The ONLY thing they had changed was the size and the amount of content inside. The average person would not notice this change until they went to cook it and then would wonder why the cooked result was 17% less. The price difference was slight, so one was actually paying more per 100 grams as well. I couldn't help but feel sorry for those on fixed incomes and marginalized by reading and learning challenges. This was fast becoming a dog-eat-dog world in the one venue where all must compete to keep food on the table for themselves and their families.

Ten minutes before the end of shift, the lead hand waved us off, told us to call it a day and go and enjoy a cup of coffee for the bang-up job we had done. Peering into the fridge for cream for the coffee, I spied a bottle of flavored coffee creamer. Nice! Southern Butter Pecan. I poured a generous amount into a large cup after deciding that the coffee looked to have been on the warmer for a good many hours, lol.... The sweet flavoring made it more than acceptable, and I headed home afterward cranked on caffeine and sugar, delighted that the weather forecast had proven accurate and the temperature had warmed considerably overnight.

My weekend starting, and I had managed a good rest prior to shift, the night had flowed like silk on glass and my horses were looking forward to an afternoon of activities. For the present moment at least, the universe was being decidedly co-operative. Best to take advantage of such opportunity when it occurs.
