    Re: Coping Strategies

Nonaggressive species (and individuals) choose flight or withdrawal as a coping mechanism.

Disengagement is also a tactic employed by empowered individuals. Escalation is avoided and all parties have the opportunity to "save face."

Our perception of any situation, becomes our reality. Individual perceptions vary, leading to misunderstanding, or the perception thereof.

Disputes are part of a discussion, as long as it's directed to the matter instead of the person (s).

    Re: Coping Strategies

Manner of coping should never be assumed by others.

To the perceptive eye, depth of intent and motivation is sharply clear as sense of judgement is clearly sharper....

    Re: Coping Strategies

The mechanism of moderation is generally arrived at due to a failure of coping strategies, in the experience of Labelwench.

While some might take the view that using a moderator is a good strategy, the restrictions so imposed can be limiting to the scope of a dialogue.

Speaking in the third person is another way of maintaining distance and respect. Seldom will any two or more persons be in complete accord in all matters, therefore it is imperative to learn how to disagree without becoming disagreeable.

The following phrase has been demonstrated to be most effective in ending the majority of disputes.

"You're right! Let's go for a celebratory drink, dinner etc. You're buying?"

Labelwench considers dinners and libations to be of greater import than proving a point. Besides which, we are all entitled to our wrong opinions and nothing precludes us from being legends in our own minds.

Request that all participants play nice on this thread. Quarter is neither asked nor given and we take no prisoners.

There are other tools apart from a coping saw; tenon saw, hack saw and even a jigsaw.

    Hello Zelta,

Many tools indeed! Are you a tradesperson? Having skill with practical tools is going to be most valuable in the near future as infrastructure and general construction require regular maintenance.

Jigsaw puzzles are also another great way to liberate the mind for problem solving. Unless one is easily frustrated by 1000 pieces of a monocolour scheme brain teaser!

    Best regards,

    Labelwench

No, I'm not a tradesperson. Although I sometimes trade with people. Just a mutual interest in the building industry.

Yes indeed, jigsaws is a great tool for refining one's patience and cognitive thinking.
